Orienteering (New Caledonia) 48:48 [5] *** 6.69 km (7:18 / km) +99m 6:48 / km
spiked:35/41c shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 7

So damn hot! iPhone says its 36.

Course was a One Man Sprint Relay at a Navy base. First course was around around Point Chaleix which was an urban area. It was quite fun with three butterfly loops from a common control and plenty of route choice. The next course was on Ilon Brun which is an island connected by a bit of road. It was only 3km but took me 30 minutes. It was so hot and humid. I don't think I've ever raced in heat like that. The second half was really steep with many bush legs so it was pretty slow. Was one of the first starters and finished well ahead of the field but not sure the results.

Lost my map so here's Amy's second leg

Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series #11) 46:40 [5] *** 9.7 km (4:49 / km) +134m 4:30 / km
spiked:24/28c shoes: Asics Kayano 19 (2)

Picked a pretty good route today. Started north through 21-1-11-19-3-5-14-24 but the track to 15 was a bit slow so should have stuck to the road. Then 30-29-27-17 and took a turn up the wrong road (20 secs), then stuffed around at 20 and 9 looking in the wrong places (45 secs). The through 2-8-13 before it started raining and 25-28-6 were quite dark in the bush. After then it really started pissing it down through 7-26 then the long uphill slog back towards the finish in the driving rain through 10-16-23-18-22. Ended up with 550 points.
