Orienteering race (Sydney Sprint Series #3) 14:11 [5] *** 2.9 km (4:53 / km) +43m 4:33 / km
spiked:19/23c shoes: Asics Kayano 19

Sprint at Carss Bush. Pretty good run overall with just a few small time losses. Got really confused at the start triangle trying to work out how to get to no.1 (10 secs). Got to the bottom of the stairs then double backed to the control. Didn't see no.3 (15 secs) from the top of the cliffs and then had to run north to get down. The next few through 4 to 15 in the parkland were easy. So much so that you could see at least 1 control ahead. Then stuffed around at no.16 (10 secs) as I didn't see it behind a tree. I then tried to cut the corner at no.18 (20 secs) but ended up way too high. The last bit through the bush was a bit slow as it was wet and slippery. Finished about 30 secs ahead of a Swede and 1 min ahead of Ondrej for a rare Sprint win.

Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series #16) 44:58 [5] *** 10.59 km (4:15 / km) +81m 4:05 / km
spiked:28/30c shoes: Asics Kayano 19

Mostly street course. Started out 19, 20, 27, 5, 3, 24, 13, 12, 8 then lost about 30 secs looking too early for the plaza on Norton Street. Did a loop through 1, 6, 25, 11, 18, 23, 7, 26, 4. By now my map was really falling apart from the sweat. Managed to guess my way to 15 with a few stops to try and conserve my map. Then did 2, 28, 17, 21, 10, 9, 16, 14, 30 and guessed my way through to 22 and the finish as it was gone on my map. It was a big sprint finish to get back in time in 44.58. Hot day. Felt pretty good running but got beaten comfortably by Richard Green 42.02 and Steve Ryan 43.43.
