Orienteering race (NOL #1 Sprint Qualifier) 19:20 [5] **** 3.77 km (5:08 / km) +73m 4:41 / km
spiked:20/20c shoes: Brooks Cascadia 2010

Early start this morning getting up at 4.45am in Sydney to fly to Adelaide.

Sprint Qualifier at Flinders University. Felt slow in the buildings but ok once it opened up through the middle section. No real time losses, just too tentative in the technical bits. Ended up being in the fastest heat but still qualified in 7th. Matt Crane-16.07, Oscar McNulty-17.23, Henry McNulty-17.28, then 4 Stingers in a row all qualified Josh Blatchford-17.44, Matt Parton-18.10, Brooner-18.46.

Orienteering race (NOL #2 Sprint Final) 17:55 [5] **** 3.99 km (4:29 / km) +42m 4:16 / km
spiked:17/20c shoes: Brooks Trance 10

Sprint Final on Waite Campus at University of Adelaide. Quite hot for this. One of the frst runners off because I was at the back end of the fastest morning heat. Felt better running but started off losing time at no.1 then didn't pick a good route to no.2 weaving through the buildings. Going from no.8 to 9 turned too early and got stuck behind a high fence. Then the rest of the course was ok. Didn't see anyone else on the course. Finished in 16th. Matt Crane-14.22, Lachlan Dow-15.12, Simon Uppill-15.18, Bruce Arthur-15.32, Oscar McNulty-15.48, Josh Blatchford-15.57.

Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series) 46:56 [5] *** 10.97 km (4:17 / km) +92m 4:06 / km
spiked:30/30c shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 7

Pretty easy street course. Still feeling tired from the MiniGaine on Sunday and Sprint on Monday. Started with no.20 and 5 then worked anti-clockwise around the map. Didn't lose any time at any of the controls. Got all in 46.54 for 580 points, same as Steve Ryan, Mark Schaefer-570, Glenn Horrocks-550.

Orienteering race (Sydney Sprint Series) 15:44 [5] *** 3.36 km (4:41 / km) +27m 4:30 / km
spiked:10/15c shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 7

Legs tired from yesterdays MiniGaine so couldn't push too hard. No real errors but comparing splits to Brooner - lost time on no.2, overran no.3 although Brooner lost a further 30 secs, lost time on no.7 and no.8 street legs, then more time on no.10 and 11 in the technial Ballast Point bit.

Finished 2nd in 15.44, well behind Brooner in 15.06, Mike Burton-15.51, Patrik Gunnarsson-16.18 and Duncan Currie had a great run in 17.26 too.

Orienteering race (MiniGaine) 3:04:00 [5] *** 31.4 km (5:52 / km) +684m 5:17 / km
spiked:48/50c shoes: Brooks Trance 10

MiniGaine starting from Mosman. Looking back, route choice was 1km too long and went out way too hard. Started with controls around Cremorne Point. Lost time early at no.30 when I missed th park and then the next control no.22 where the control was misplaced. Turns out the only 2 losses of time with nav. Then worked way around Bradleys Head, Chowder Bay, Georges Heights, Balmoral Beach. Really started tiring badly around Balmoral to a walk sometimes. Struggled into finish collecting all controls just under 4 minutes over time. Richard Green and Glenn Horrocks got all in 2.48 and 2.58.
