Run race (Lamington Classic) 4:04:42 [5] 42.2 km (5:48 / km) +984m 5:12 / km
shoes: Altra Lone Peak 3.5

Tried to run comfortable so I wouldn't wreck myself for Guzzler in 2 weeks. Starting from Binna Burra ran out in front and had a Chinese guy sit right on my tail for the entire 21.1km to the turnaround at O'Reilly's. Even through all the surges he was still <1m away. So went out a bit harder than intended. After the 3 min compulsory stop at O'Reilly's he finally let me go and I ran back a bit easier to finish 1st.

Run race (Brisbane Trail Ultra 60km) 6:48:56 [5] 61.47 km (6:39 / km) +2073m 5:42 / km
shoes: Asics Kayano 25

Started in the Elite wave but was determined to run my own race just to get through it as its longer than I had run in 15 years since Cradle Mountain, plus it was pretty hot.

After watching Ben Duffus and Ando Moquiuti race away from the start settled into 3rd and by 10km I was on my own. The next 10km the trails started getting more technical and I took a wrong turn following the same pink tape for something unrelated to the course and got passed by Ben Foessel and a couple others. I'd run 600m extra and so did some of the others. Caught the others at the 2nd checkpoint 1km later and then reeled in Ben Foessel about 28km. I was then surprised to catch Ando around 30km as he was feeling the heat.

Still feeling decent running up to the summit of Mount Coot-tha at 36km and the long decent to the 3rd and final checkpoint at 42km. This was the start of the Red Bull climb and I had hit a little low. Knowing I had done ok till this point I backed off. Fortunately I started feeling better again around 46km and picked up the pace for the last 10km into Southbank.

Finished 2nd (well over an hour behind Duffus) and one of my better races with how I felt. Now just two more to get through in the next month.
