Orienteering race (Brisbane Club Event) 27:00 [5] *** 5.87 km (4:36 / km) +67m 4:21 / km
spiked:8/10c shoes: Asics Kayano 25

Got to the event at 9.45, then sat in car calling into a work meeting till 11.15. Thought I missed my chance to run but they kindly let me go. Mix of bush, parks and streets. Felt good and my niggling knee and calf injury seemed to stay away. Left #7 thinking I was leaving #8 on the map and ran 200m before realising when the streets didnt match up. Fortunately I got lucky it was the correct way anyway. And lost about 45 secs on the last #10 in the bush off-direction.

Run race (Brisbane Club Event) 1:07:06 [5] 6.92 km (9:41 / km) +402m 7:31 / km
spiked:7/11c shoes: Altra Lone Peak 3.5

Tough course. Vegetation not mapped and relentless steep hills. Controls not in the centre of the circle either. Good fun though. Despite one 6 min error in low vis bush, was a better run than last week.

Run (Brisbane Club Event) 55:09 [5] 6.74 km (8:11 / km) +266m 6:50 / km
spiked:7/9c shoes: Altra Lone Peak 3.5

Bush course in slow but runnable bush at Opossum Creek. Legs were feeling tired so not really pushing it. Lost 5 min on long leg to #4 where I was off-direction and ended up on the wrong ridge. A few other time losses being off-direction. Not sure if I would have recovered and got proper lost if I didn't have a compass.

Run race (D'Aguilar 2 Ups Marathon) 4:31:09 [5] 42.44 km (6:23 / km) +2096m 5:07 / km
shoes: Asics Kayano 24

Started in the second of 3 waves and ended up running nearly the entire course with one other guy. Was taking it fairly comfortably chatting the first half and even stopping to take a few pics but then he pulled away slightly at about 23km as my calf was playing up. The opposite of the tight one as I may have been compensating. For about 1km I stopped stretched, walked then eventually took off my ankle tape which made it a bit better. Ended up catching the other guy back up around 30km and soon after we got to a junction where it wasn't too clear the direction. Wasted about 2 minutes as I got my phone out and decided on the way I originally thought (the correct choice). I knew if I could keep with the other guy I have him on the decent to the finish based on the race so far but I think he knew the same and surged about 6km out and even got out of sight. I tried to push on but it was so steep and my legs weren't helping. Coming down the last steep 500m he was there and I passed him. Ended up finishing 2nd by 57 seconds to a guy from the wave behind. Also a few others ended up being disqualified after taking the wrong turn at the junction we were hesitant on.
