Forgot how much fun proper bush orienteering is in runnable forest. Good run, just a couple minor time losses. Beat lazydave by 1 second :)

Rogaine race (Sydney MiniGaine) 3:01:46 [5] 31.74 km (5:44 / km) +410m 5:23 / km
spiked:43/44c shoes: Altra Lone Peak 3.5

Not feeling super motivated for this after pretty much 4 weeks of lower training volume (2 weeks taper and 2 weeks off after Brunei). It was hot too, so decided to take it easier than normal from the start knowing it was about 30km and pacing myself to do about 10km/hr. The first hour got most around the start/finish area which I did straight line through bush or long grass as much as possible. It was slower running than the tracks but meant I didn't have to push as hard. Got through that section without any time losses and enjoying the bush course. Then got out into the road and northern section for the middle hour where I was able to pick up the pace but still trying to go bush where I could to minimise distance. As the last hour approached worked out it was going to be over 30km so had to pick up the pace more. Took a few risks taking some bush options and made a last minute decision to grab #26 and #30 so got all controls in 1.46 over time.
