Slow to 3 and 4. Then got caught by Macey at no.7. Spent the rest of the race just trying to hang on.

Made many small mistakes, most being 30 seconds. Felt pretty slow through the terrain.

Orienteering 30:52 [5] *** 6.0 km (5:09 / km)

Event at Lane Cove NP. Again was hungover. And again the course didn't utilise the bush.

Event at The Incinerator, Willoughby. Unfortunately, it was mostly street and the bush wasn't used. Had a bit of trouble reading the mapping in a couple places.

Run race (Coastal Classic) 2:44:18 [5] 29.99 km (5:29 / km) +771m 4:51 / km
shoes: Asics Kayano 19

Was sick for the majority of the week leading up so wasn't sure if I was going to make it to the start line. Felt a bit better by Friday so decided to start. The drive down was bucketing down in stages so didn't think it'd be a pleasant run. But by the time we started it was nice and sunny.

Started in a group with Prong, Candyman, James McQ and Ondrej. The start is always tough straight up a steep hill. Prong, Candyman and I picked up the pace trying to get ahead of some groups before the single trail which meant James and Ondrej were dropped though. Going down Burning Palms was wet and slippery and also the first few headlands were really muddy which meant slow going. Prong and Candyman gapped me by a minute or so to the first drink station at Garie Beach. I caught them both back up about 14km and did about a km together before I ran ahead. After then, I hardly saw anyone. Passed maybe 2 more after that and got passed by another 500m from the end. Felt pretty good for most part, especially in the second half where I was able to pick up the pace.

Finished 10th overall which I'll take considering only short training and being sick leading up. People suggest times were about 10 minutes slower than usual due to the wetness and mud, so happy with 2.44 today. Macca's cup down the shorts worked well again, it's so much better than carrying a pack.
