Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series #9) 43:12 [5] *** 9.43 km (4:35 / km) +99m 4:21 / km
spiked:28/30c shoes: Asics Kayano 19

Not the best run. Think I would run it reverse if I did it again and get the hills in a better place. Plus also made two stupid errors not concentrating.

Started with 11, 2, 30, 19, 9 and was looking for 29 too early. Then 8 and lost more time on the street not concentrating where I was at 18. The rest was ok through the streets 17, 7, 26, 6, 25, 16, 24, 5, 15, 4, 23, 3 and then down into the bush to 14 where I was looking too early for th control, 22, 13, 27, 12 and finishing up the hill to 1, 21, 20, 28.

Got all controls 3 min behind Glenn Horrocks and 1.5 min behind Steve Ryan.

Good bush course at Darling Mills SF. Didn't lose much time except trying to find tracks in the burnt out areas. Happy to have a 'slower' bush event after this morning's efforts. Retained the WHO Cup.

Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series #8) 42:11 [5] *** 9.43 km (4:28 / km) +52m 4:21 / km

Feeling a little tired today. Sounds like most people had similar route collecting the hospital controls, then the horse paddocks then finishing with the few in the streets and the northern controls. Didn’t lose any time on the course and was 30 secs up after the hospital but Glenn Horrocks smashed me and pulled 2 min on me from then. Can’t explain why, maybe just tired. Again another great course. I’m impressed with the standard this season.

Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series #7) 46:55 [5] *** 9.38 km (5:00 / km) +147m 4:38 / km

Another good course out on The Clay Pan. Started up Beacon Hill to 18, 17, 6, 28 then collected the eastern street controls 30, 5, 16, 10, 19, 11, 1. Saved some time scrambling up the cliff to 26 then stuffed 12. Couldn’t find the track leading in and lost about 1.5 minutes running round all the bare rocks. Pushed a bit harder through the bush controls trying to make back time collecting 21 then bush bashing through the green to 2 which turned out to be a time saver. Then got 21, 13, 22, 3, 24, 15, 4 but missed the track junction to 14, 25 not reading my map properly losing another 30 secs by doing an extra 300m. Finished with 20, 27, 8, 7 and 29 which was all the controls in 46.50. Should have got back in time without the errors but still managed to get the top score 20 points ahead of Patrik and Steve R.

Didn't have the best plan and tried to go for too much. Started with the eastern controls 13, 25, 16, 30, 20. The bush track was pretty slow so was already losing time. Did an out and back to 19 then collected 10, 29, 9, 8 which weren't worth the effort. The next few were quite slow too 18, 17, 7, 28, 5 then down to 26, 14, 3 and finished with a loop around Mann Point including 24, 23, 21, 22, 2, 12, 1, 11. Ended up being 6 minutes late skipping just 6 and 4 so 520 points overall. Equal top with Steve R and Richard Green. Could've got back for 550 points skipping 10, 29, 9 but lucky noone else saw that route.

Note

Played 9 holes of golf at Canterbury. Hadn't played for a couple of months so thought I'd be rusty. Double bogeyed the first but then went round in even for the remaining 8 holes.
