Rogaine race (Paddy Pallin 6 Hour) 5:50:00 [5]
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 6

Ran with Mounty, Ben and Steve. We started out on a real thick bush to 20 and then even thicker bush on a track to 48, 21 and 33. We then cruised through the first couple of hours through 22, 23, 42, 38, 28, 46, 65, 70, 57, 71, 51, 64, 52 and 54 and then into the more so scratchy bush to 62, 101, 100, 74 and 53. The pace was pretty slow going until now not really attempting to go hard through the thick stuff. We changed our plan to attack the northern controls now and headed at a bit faster pace to 37, 34, 32, 45 (lost 5 min overrunning it), 50, 60 and controls along the Great North Walk which was a nice finish 44, 43, 55, 25, 26, 58 and 31. Finished on 1670 points in 2nd place behind Horrocks, Joel and Andrew with 1720.

Run race (Vanuatu) 40:50 [5] 10.0 km (4:05 / km)
ahr:183 max:189 shoes: Asics Kayano 15

Ran the Vanuatu Series 10K near Port Vila. It was really hot and humid and I don’t normally struggle with heat but today I did (I stopped at all 6 drink stations!). It was quite a large field and half of them were running barefoot! I tried to hang onto the leaders as long as possible but they were gradually getting away running about 10 secs faster each km. The first and last k’s were the only flat sections of the course and the rest of it was either up or downhill. Finished 1.45 behind the winner in 6th and got a huge bag full of very random prizes for finishing 3rd in my category which I left at a village for the kids at Siviri. One kid was so impressed with his new hat that he became our personal tour guide of the local underground cave.

(3.30, 3.38, 4.14, 3.53, 4.27, 4.37, 4.11, 4.00, 4.04, 4.15).

My knee was surprisingly really good though which means I can run Paddy next week.

Wish I was doing Race Vanuatu now. It's gonna be awesome!
