Rogaine race (MetroGaine) 4:39:49 [5] 40.69 km (6:53 / km) +749m 6:18 / km
spiked:52/53c shoes: Asics Kayano 20

Lane Cove Rivergaine with Mounty. Felt pretty good the whole time despite the heat. Kept a decent pace for first 2.5 hours with no time losses at any of the checkpoints. Stopped for a Cider (no beers available) just after #33 on Mowbray Road. From then on was a little slower due to heat, hills and fatigue. Only time loss was on #82 where control was supposed to be on the end of a track but it was in the bush, and the track continued a lot further (4 minutes). Ended up getting all controls in 4.39, 13 min ahead of the field. Happy not to have to run the full 6 hours today.

Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series #21) 43:47 [5] *** 9.14 km (4:47 / km) +150m 4:26 / km
spiked:29/29c shoes: Asics Kayano 20

Feeling a bit sluggish and tired in the heat. Really hanging for a rest week which I'll do after MetroGaine. Pretty much same course as everyone else. Couldn't decide to get #4 or not, but decided against it and then cruised the last 10 minutes to the finish. Would have been late if I decided to get it. Got 590 same as Ondrej, Steve R, Unsquashable, Richard Morris but James McQ got em all in 44.29.

Strapped both ankles a lot as they were feeling quite sore today. They didn't feel too bad once warmed up on the run though. Lost time on #3 too short (15 secs) and #4 followed unmapped rockline too far west (40 secs). Going round oval to finish would have also saved a few seconds. That's now the last 3 x Summer Series and 2 x Sprints a big error has been costly. Finished 4th 1 min behind Aidan, 30 secs behind Brooner and 3 sec behind Toby.

spiked:29/30c shoes: Asics Kayano 20

Felt ok and was running pretty well till lost time going to #25 from #9. Overran the turnoff and ended up a few blocks low. Once I realised should have collected #17 as I was so close to it. Prob cost 1 min. Finished 4th about 2 min behind Steve, 1 min behind James and 30 behind Richard Morris.

Ok run but lost time on a couple controls including 30 secs on #7. Didn't read ahead before #6 and caught caught by the olive green, then ended up going the long way round back towards #5. Went the wrong way around to #11 (15 secs), got caught on the wrong side of the olive green at #14 (15 secs). Finished 4th, Aidan-13.36, Toby-14.16, Brooner-14.39.

Fun course at Pennant Hills Park. Wasn't feeling great but tracks were pretty slow so suited me more today. Went North first. Lost time overrunning #22 (30 secs), skipped #2, lost time again overrunning #26 (90 secs), then more time on #16 as couldn't figure out what the control feature was on (60 secs). Successfully bush bashed from #16 to #19 in 5 min then clean run to home. So 590-100 for 490.

Strange results tonight. Finished 2nd but way behind 1st, 40 points behind local Jeremy Fowler but also 40 ahead of 3rd Ondrej and Toby.

Know this area really well so was good to have a route choice course to make it a bit more challenging. Missed the best route choice a few times. Also lost time on #5 going round the bottom. Finished 2nd but well behind Brooner who smashed it. Don't have the speed to match that at the moment.

Shocker of a run. Felt tired and hot and struggled from the start. Then by the end started to lose a whole bunch of time including getting stung by a nest of something bashing through the bush down from #25 (30 secs), overrunning #22 (30 secs), missing the track turnoff towards #26 on the street (1.30 min), forgetting #15 then coming back to it at the end but was looking in the wrong spot (4 min). So altogether over 6 min of errors for 520 points. Think on a good day 600 was possible.
