O 56:16 [5]

Was an early start with control hanging and then helping on the first shift, but felt like I was going ok. Result seems pretty good, although I know this area really well. Some of my best legs were because I knew where the control would be and the best way to get there, without really having to navigate.

Was going to attack #3 from the south, but that meant going through Bank junction. Which, sure enough, was busy when I got there, so I went north, which I should have done in the first place (like I did later going to #19). Lost about 10s.

Tried to find a route out going south from #27. Just tired and not focused I think. Lost about 20s.

Left everything out on the course. Had to eat my emergency Jelly Babies on the bike on the way home, because my legs were empty!

O race (Sprint) 29:23 [4]

Felt like I was running fast, but was never on top of the map or course. Started just after it got dark. Only had my Street-O headtorch. Probably needed a full Night-O headtorch to pick out the complex map details. Felt like I made too many mistakes. I fell into all the traps.

Missed that you couldn't get into #5 from the north. Should have looped round to the east then south. Lost 10s.

Lost map contact to #10. Ran past it and had to run back. 20s

Thought I could see a way through to the canal, west from #10. 20s.

O race (Sprint) 35:51 [4]

The cough I've been suffering with for the last few weeks has been getting better. It's not gone, but I wasn't coughing while I was running, which was nice. Felt a bit faster as a result.

Course A
Had clean run and felt on top of things, so pushed hard as well.
Was going to simplify and run on the rough open to the east of the buildings to #4, but the building work fences came right down to the buildings, so had to switch to the middle route. Lost about 15s.
Saw the narrow passage to #15, which was one of the key shortcuts.
A bit slow coming out of #15 as I checked my route to #16

Course B
Another clean run, but didn't feel on top of it, so wasn't pushing as hard.
Routes were more complex, there were lots of steps and little bit of rain made it slippy.
Slow to #1 and #2, but I was just getting my head round the map.
Not sure my route to #3 was best. Might have been quicker to go round the south of the building for less climbing, but I didn't lose much time.
