JWOC Relay
Wobbly first control but the rest were okay. Apart from #18 which I got super confused and brain was dead and lost a bit of time hunting in the wrong spot and making stuff fit. Should’ve been more careful and checked compass better coming in.
The rest were slow and careful but mostly okay I think. I was just trying to pick good routes and use the contours as much as I could and keep contact.
It was so hot and my legs just couldn’t move at all so was going super slowly and would’ve lost a fair bit of time just from that.

Overall JWOC has been a lot of fun and I have certainly learnt a lot about my orienteering so lots to build on. In saying that, all of my races were disappointing, in particular the forest ones where I just made so many stupid mistakes which would’ve been easily avoidable. Not satisfied in the slightest with my performances because I know I can do so much better.

JWOC Middle C Final
Cooked the first control a bit, found the second one first. Route should've been safer and should've kept better contact. #8 wasn’t great either. Didn’t keep good contact and plan wasn’t solid or executed well so ended up bailing to the track which I should’ve either done first or not at all.

And okay run, quite slow and careful in parts but head was not completely switched on as I want and need it to be. Still making silly mistakes though and not using features etc which I should be.

JWOC Middle qual

I am just disappointed in myself that I can never pull it together when I need to and just keep making these bloody stupid mistakes

Big mistake on two - so stupid - thought I was on the track but definitely wasn't and then when I had fixed that, I went hunting in some green even though I knew I was in the wrong spot. Lost 12 minutes fuuuaaarrrrkkkk. So so stupid.
Similar thing on #4 when I didn't keep good contact along a line feature and missed the entry I wanted and had to go back. Another 3 mins gone there.
More time lost in other places but not as significant.
After that got caught by a Czech girl and was in a bit of a train with her. Good to learn how fast others are able to navigate in tricky terrain.
Another disappointing forest race.

JWOC Sprint
A solid run. I think I missed some of the better route choices and also lost time hesitating. My legs were pretty cooked and I had to keep reminding myself to run harder.
Overall really fun course and happy with this.

JWOC Long Distance.
Not happy with this.
Made a big mistake on #5, not checking exit well enough then over ran it by a heap. Then didn't recover well and mucked up #6 bc I didn't have good contact or exit or plan on the leg and didn't know where I was near the circle. Went too wide on #7, not good contact again and not solid plan or exit. Changed plan half way to #8 so that cost time as well and route to #12 could've been a lot better. All of these happened when there was people around so that is an obvious common problem with a simple enough solution to work on.
Lost probably close to 20mins of mistakes which is shit. But lots of things I can keep working on for next time.

Easy around the sprint model followed by some hard legs and ending with some strides.
Had lots of energy, legs felt good. Starting to get exciting!
