Oceania Middle.
Slow start, not convinced that the feature #1 was on was fair as a control site/should've even been on the map because my backpack was bigger than it and the marking on the map for the feature probably takes up ~10m of space, but either way should've gone straight out to the track from the start, lost about 40s on this leg, some from the start but most from hunting in the green for the rusty drum. A bit slow through the forest in the first part to #3, and possibly taking the higher route was going to be slower anyway but wanted to be safe. Slow again going up to #4, very much looking forward to being able to push hard physically (soon hopefully). Second guessing, not looking up enough and not reading detail well made for too low/far into #5, losing about a minute and this is where Zoe caught me up the 2. Same as #4, #7 and #8 were fine, just slow. Line to #10 could've been a bit smoother when I should've stayed up high. Lost over 1min on #12, should've just gone straight down though at this point was still possibly considering going right, and then went waay too far left when I was almost high enough, just wanted to stop climbing was part of the problem I think. Then just a slow slog to finish from #13 onwards, around 45s lost over those last 4 legs.
A lot of time lost today due to not being able to run fast enough, especially on the hills. Legs were quite okay but struggled to get enough oxygen in to power up the legs. Not too worried though, when I can run intervals again this will fix itself.
Happy with how I was navigating for the most part, especially after how little orienteering I've been able to do recently. Mental side was okay, struggled to find the 'fight' whilst orienteering at the moment, though I know that will come back when the physical strength comes back. Things to take away, but first priority has to be recovering and being able to run pain-free again.

Running warm up/down 7:16 [2] 1.16 km (6:16 / km) +29m 5:34 / km

Super short because of time limit and also didn't want to stray too far because there was no way of knowing what was going in with the runners out there.

Ocean Relay
2nd leg
First time forest orienteering since jwoc, not quite able to get into the right headspace because had hardly any warning about when I was going to go out. Very rusty, and taking it quite easy physically, though probably ended up being a bit too much for the foot I think..
Taking lots of safer routes. Lost lots of time on #2, because I was unsure about which rocks were the ones mapped and ended up too high, needed to be concentrating better. Rushed out of #3 then started second guessing myself going to #4 so lost time doing an extra loop on the way there. Rest was kind of okay, not satisfied because I just gave up mentally and didn't fight when it wasn't even that bad in the end. Which was probably a good thing in some ways anyway though.
Its hard not to get too down about being so far back, but at least its better than nothing.

Running warm up/down 21 [1] 0.04 km (8:45 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 230

most pathetic warm down in history bc way over today's time limit for running.

Way too short so could stick in my time limit for today

Oceania Sprint
Ended up being about where I expected to be for a sprint with only one time orienteering since mid July.
Better printing, clearer map etc could've made the event better as well as a bit more thought into things like quarantine, run throughs etc.
Orienteering wise, think I should've gone around the hill going to #10, lost some time checking another control on a similar feature going to #12 and overran #14 slightly. Lots more time lost from hesitations and micro-route choices, a lot of which could've been smoothed out by some more sprint training in the lead up. Quite rusty with processes too.
Can't help but be a bit demoralised but I guess a run is better than none.

Running warm up/down 2:34 [2] 0.4 km (6:25 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 230

Again way too short so I could still within my time limit for today.
