Orienteering - Urban race (The Meadows+Trent Embankm) 46:28 [5] 10.81 km (4:18 / km) +48m 4:12 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 9

Easy win due to low standard of competition; undeserved. But cements my victory in EMUL, which is obviously the only competition anyone cares about.

Lost 20s on #3 due to becoming disoriented following curved amphitheatre steps into control and therefore not paying enough attention when leaving. Expected a lake on my left so was surprised to see it on my right, but made relocating easy. Should've preplanned as had long leg along grass beforehand - bad.
Pretty good until #15 where lost a totally unnecessary minute, ran too far along a road for no reason, didn't notice for 30s. I think must've been faffing with map folding, it was 1:4k so there was a lot of that.really annoying as not on a hard leg, and it was an obvious junction.need to visualise better so know what to expect when map faffing.

Then some really good o.suboptimal route on the long leg but still won the leg, want to see RG for that.

Back of quads (dont know what they are) aching as if I'd done intervals yesterday; not had that feeling since my last track session a year ago. The 1803 parkrun making itself known I think. So not feeling particularly fast today, and winning few splits near the beginning, but as with the fell race yesterday near the end of the race once other people are tired too, I do much better.

Good practice for the Manchester races next week :)

Running - Road/Track race (Parkrun - Stretford) 18:03 [5] 5.0 km (3:37 / km) +4m 3:36 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 9

Pan flat, would be a very fast course if not for the 180 degree corner x 2.
I reckon I'm on pb form on a flat course without corners, so Congleton beckons.

Temperature in the negatives while driving here but warmed up for the race. Need to do something about my hands though, rest of body sweating but can't feel my fingers (having to type this by fixing my thumb in position and moving my whole hand...)

High standard parkrun! 45 people under 20 mins.

Running - Trail race (Race You To The Summit) 34:06 [5] 7.39 km (4:37 / km) +313m 3:48 / km
shoes: X-talon 210 (orange)

Apparently the top 4 went the wrong way and had to catch up again, which explains why everyone is so close together.not sure what happened as it was very well flagged!

Wondered how long it would be before I was regretting doing parkrun - turns out 45 seconds.
After the first climb, once everyone legs felt the way mine did from the start, started gaining places again and finished not too bad.
Nice race, mostly on grassy/muddy paths with some gravelly stuff. Runnable climb with equally runnable downhill. Enjoyed it, definitely a good call to do this rather than the XC.

Running - Road/Track (MH Road Training) 1:07:35 [3] 13.9 km (4:52 / km) +116m 4:40 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 9

Found out that one of my friends from the club died in a traffic accident this morning. This is the first time a friend has died. I am sad.
Run was very nearly cancelled but we decided he wouldn't have wanted that. He was only 30 and had an 8 month old baby. Managed to forget about it a bit during the run, but not really.

Running - Trail (MH Fell Training) 1:22:50 [3] 12.96 km (6:23 / km) +396m 5:33 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 305

Getting a bit muddy for trail shoes now. Bit chilly on the tops too, but ok when moving.

Running - Trail hills (5k hills) 34:56 [3] 5.2 km (6:43 / km) +290m 5:15 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 305

Put in some effort on the climbs, otherwise easy.
Light drizzle which would've been nice in the summer but it's distracting at night due to the torchlight.
Wore an unnecehat - still warm.

Running - Road/Track (Recovery loop) 41:28 [3] 8.09 km (5:08 / km) +70m 4:55 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 9

Annoyed - got stuck in those pointless roadworks where there is a really short section of temporary traffic lights but with nothing actually happening in between them - and so missed the group leaving by about a minute. So went for a dull one on my own :(
