Running - Trail race (Kinder Downfall) 1:25:41 [5] 15.59 km (5:30 / km) +601m 4:36 / km
ahr:130 max:160 (injured) shoes: X-Talon 225 (July 2017)

Possibly unsurprisingly, my legs are wrecked from yesterday and so found the climb disastrously hard. Even once at the top, I couldn't get going for ages and was passed by loads of people. Once we got to the downhill fields I sped up a bit and got back a few places, but a pretty poor 47th place:

On the upside, want expecting much after yesterday, and the main goal of the weekend was not to injure anything, which I appear to have got away with. So should be okay for the big(ish) one on Saturday and then the big(ger) one the weekend after...

Significantly overdressed - planned for the expected weather at the top (strong wind, heavy rain) but it was actually nice (medium wind, dry) such that I was a bit warm.

Running - Trail race (Anniversary Waltz) 2:03:36 [5] 18.75 km (6:36 / km) +1179m 5:01 / km
ahr:150 max:162 (injured) shoes: X-Talon 225 (July 2017)

Thought that this race might be a bit dull at the start but it wasn't as much road/track as I thought. Started probably too far back and it was narrow so was a bit bored in for 500m or so, this probably helped me not start too fast.
Stayed with Robbie for the first 5k until it got really steep, then he disappeared into the distance.turned right up to Blea crags at the same time as everyone else although I'd intended to stay on the path (peer pressure...), would like to recce the path as the climb up the moor was pretty slow (0.9-1.1Bl).
Passed by first lady coming down Robinson, no hope of staying with her.caught by 2nd lady up to Dale Head and followed her line down on the basis that she had probably done her research.running together most of the way across Maiden Moor and I saw her slow down in front and thought it was my chance to get ahead...but then she gestured at a hill and asked 'do we have to go up there?'
Luckily I guessed right that we didn't...could probably have got the map out at that stage but maybe I was affected by the heat or something...it was very hot.I did get away from her anyway though and once we'd got round a corner the route was obvious as the visibility was so good (sporadic flagging of the descent notwithstanding).
Really nice route, great views. Finished 6 mins ish behind Robbie and 3 mins behind first lady, relatively happy with that.
A hat would've been a good idea in the heat, but I don't know which bag/box that's in.
So would suncream - just forgot about that.I think I dealt with the heat better than some others - 500ml with electrolyte and the new 3x sodium shot bloks did the trick.
Very happy my knee made it all the way around! Close to unticking the box, but not quite there yet.

Bit of everything - pace approaching tempo on the way out up the canal, then jog + strides on the way back, then one effort up a hill. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Running - Trail (Local Loop) 40:31 [3] 6.59 km (6:09 / km) +224m 5:15 / km

Insanely nice loop from my doorstep. Also someone has conveniently created segments to the top of White Nancy which I'll definitely be having a go at.
Lovely evening, great views of everywhere.

My cardio fitness is nowhere.
Great turnout from the club on what felt like the first evening of summer, regretted not wearing a headband. First climb tough but runnable, started strongly but couldn't maintain it. The first downhill was single track to start with and got into a bit of a queue unfortunately before it widened out and I was able to pass 5 or 6. A few got me back up the second climb which was the sort of gradient where it's hard to know if walking or running is best.
Then down the second descent found the fields tough with lactic legs but got past a couple on the road down to the finish.
13th, 3rd Harrier I think, we were also 3rd and 5th. Not sure if enough to beat Pennine or how many are in a team or even if there is a team prize; I left because I was hungry and the cakes they claimed would be for sale didn't appear to materialise...

Good start to the season. Knee broadly ok, as before could still feel it especially on the downhills, but should be fine for Saturday :)

Running - Trail (MH Fell Training) 1:15:52 [3] 10.16 km (7:28 / km) +382m 6:17 / km
ahr:153 max:180 (injured) shoes: Salomon Fellraiser

I think most of the swelling has gone down, still a bit painful to touch but largely better.

Still chilly enough to be coatable running at this pace, felt slow and easy; good recovery. Mondays tend to get a slower group so will change weight-day to this.
