Running - Trail race (The Big Cheese) 1:51:41 [5] 15.0 mi (7:27 / mi) +679m 6:32 / mi
shoes: Mizuno Wave Kien

EDIT: 11th/205

12ish. Found this really tough on the hills! Far more concentrated hills than the grizzly; ie there were only really four but the first three were over a km each and I can't handle that. The first downhill I got loads of people back who'd passed me on the up, but they all came past again on the third hill up to the trig point and I never saw them again...

...apart from one who I sneaked past with a few hundred metres to go after running the last 2k downhill at 3:25 pace :)

No problem with the distance although it did seem to go on a bit.I think I would psychologically struggle to cope with a marathon.

On the plus side: B&W won first team, so I have 1.5kgs of applewood smoked cheddar to add to whatever comes in my cheese hamper! It's going to be a cheesy few weeks...

Orienteering - Urban race (Bridgwater Urban) 49:24 [5] 11.43 km (4:19 / km) +36m 4:15 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus 32

First urban of the season. Missed a few of the complicated route choices but didn't do anything drastically wrong until #17 where I worked out my route, was happy with it, then lost concentration and ended up in a dead end I'd specifically planned to avoid! Always with the concentration! My route on this control would have been 30s down on the best anyway, but my error added another 60s loss.

Then good again until 21 where I went around some extra corners for no benefit, 30s.

Frustratingly, finished only about a minute behind Tom - I had time for one error but not two! In fairness he lost 60s in the early part of the course; I was running faster at the beginning but was clearly tiring by the end. Very close on most splits, though, which was good. Fingers crossed for some ranking points - since the course was combined with the veterans I'd expect a pretty wide spread of times...

Running - Road/Track race (Weston Prom 5m) 29:59 [5] 8.0 km (3:45 / km) +25m 3:41 / km
shoes: Nike Zoom Rival XC

I definitely prefer longer, off-road races...this was a most unpleasant experience. Set off too fast and then couldn't hold on; getting overtaken throughout after the first k. Bit demoralizing. No leg issues, just aerobic fitness not up to the job!

My target was sub30 which I kind of met - but not as consistently as I wanted. Also I was really hoping for 29:30 to match Daryl but wasn't going to happen.

EDIT: now I've worked out that this is 37:30 10k pace I'm far more pleased with it...

Running - Trail intervals (B+W Training) 50:47 [5] 6.76 km (7:31 / km) +6m 7:29 / km
max:163 shoes: Asics Nimbus 17

14x350m (60s)

On the grass, in the dark, with one corner.

Being used to doing intervals on the track, found this hard to pace! Also without a well defined start point, the times could easily be a second either way.and who knows if it was even 350m. Anyway.

350s: 67,67,65,67,66,68,66,68,66,68,65,68,64,67

Pretty consistent. Similar times to the one time I've done 350s on the track, which suggests it was probably a bit short.

Sore throat - but not bad enough for 'ill' yet.

Glad I entered the Big Cheese as I was randomly selected to win the cheese hamper from their sponsor!! #excited

Running - Road/Track (Recovery jog) 26:48 [2] 4.65 km (5:46 / km) +25m 5:37 / km
shoes: Asics Nimbus 17

Surprised and thankful that I have no injury niggles whatsoever.

Glutes aching insanely though so will try for intervals tomorrow instead.
