Orienteering race 45:38 [3] 5.93 km (7:42 / km) +2m 7:41 / km

FVO Abbotshaugh Local Event, Green Course (4.4 km, 40 m). 1/5 (+ 2 dnf) in 45:34. A little overgrown in places with one missing (control 6) and one misplaced (control 10, about 50 m south of the correct place) control. A useful workout none the less.

Trail Race race 26:53 [4] 5.16 km (5:12 / km) +95m 4:46 / km

Queen's parkrun #67. First visit to the famously steep Queen's parkrun since event #4 back in pre-Covid days! Quite pleased with a steady effort given my recent form. Official result 40/116 in 26:53.

Warm up.

Road Race race 42:30 [5] 8.08 km (5:16 / km) +54m 5:05 / km

Charlie Kilshaw Memorial 5 M Race. Easily my worst-ever 5 M time, but I stuck to my task pretty well all the way and even managed to pick up the pace in the final half mile. 25:35 for the first full figure-of-eight lap. A good hard effort.

Road Run 6:44 [1] 0.79 km (8:35 / km)

Warm down.

Terrain Run 1:06:30 [3] 9.72 km (6:50 / km) +162m 6:19 / km
(injured)

Burncrooks Reservoir clockwise from Edenmill for the first time in a while on a mild evening with a low sun in my eyes on the way out. Didn't see a single person the entire time. Big changes since my last visit: almost all of the trees immediately after turning off the main track have gone (with felling still ongoing), the big stile by the west end of the dam has gone, and the water level in the reservoir is as low as I've ever seen it. My first run since being attacked by a tree last Saturday, and my back felt okay for running in a straight line on a fairly flat track (i.e. no twisting or ducking!).

Tuesday Jul 19 #

7 PM

Cycling 59:52 [3] 17.17 km (3:29 / km) +216m 3:17 / km
(injured)

Steady loop of the lanes east of Milngavie in the (relative) cool of the evening. No issues with my sore back, thank goodness.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Resting sore back and tired legs.
