MAROC SOL Glen Tanar (Blue, 5.9 km, 290 m). Rough and tough doesn't do justice to the legs to 1, 2 and 3 on this course with steep slopes with head-high bracken and rough ground beneath the heather underfoot all the way! Huge (9 minute!) mistake at 2 when I got dragged down the hill into several wrong bracken-filled re-entrants, and pretty big (4 minute) error at 4 where stopped short in the correct re-entrant after mistaking a unmapped path for a mapped one. The rest of the course was technically clean (and included running one leg behind Al Dunlop), but by then the damage was done. Official time 89:10.

GRAMP SOL Balmedie, Course 2 (4.4 km, 120 m). Pretty steady run on a technically challenging area spoilt by a bad 90 degree error leaving number 5 which cost me the 2 minutes I ended up behind Alice. Official time 42:53.
