Orienteering race 1:07:04 [5] 8.0 km (8:23 / km) +280m 7:08 / km

British Championships 2019, Arncliffe and Kilnsey North, M50L (8.0 km, 280 m) in 67:04 (-1:55 errors). Reasonably clean run (only significant error was at 12 where, inevitably, I dropped 0.40 when Jon X caught me) but flagged on 13 to 14 (where I took a longer route to avoid the direct climb). Crazy winning time (48:29!) but probably just about as expected on a very fast area. Significantly further down on the field than at the JK, but that was probably inevitable on such a fast and relatively easy area.

Hill Walk 30:00 [2]

Walk up to the start.

Road Race race 23:40 [4] 5.0 km (4:44 / km)

Steady effort round a busy Springburn parkrun #250 on a pleasant morning in 23:40. Tried a little harder than I had intended to.

Road Run 5:00 [1]

Brief warm up before the parkrun.

Note
(rest day)

18 hour journey back to Glasgow, and so feeling rather spaced out when I finally made it to the office at 3 pm after no sleep overnight! Probably not ideal preparation for the British Champs this weekend ...

Indoor Running 24:24 [4] 5.0 km (4:53 / km)

Through the snow to the Banff Sports Centre for 50 early morning loops of the 100 m indoor track in 24:24.

Swimming 10:40 [1]

Followed by a few slow lengths of the pool (which even the superb view of the mountains couldn't make interesting).

Hill Walk 2:25:00 [3]

From Banff Centre along the Bow River to the Banff Springs Hotel and then steeply up (almost 1,000 m of climb) the snowy switchback footpath through the woods to the top of Sulphur Mountain in 2:25. Fantastic views from the top, before taking the gondola back down (going up in the gondola is expensive, but going down is free) and the bus back to the Banff Centre.

Trail Run 38:02 [4]

Followed the Hoodoos Trail and eventually Tunnel Mountain Road anti-clockwise round Tunnel Mountain from the Banff Center on a chilly but sunny lunchtime. Middle section felt very wild and remote, with great views of the mountains.

Road Run 45:18 [3]

From Banff Centre along the Bow River to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site then back via Bow Falls on a chilly but sunny lunchtime at decent pace.
