Orienteering race 1:04:23 [4] 5.6 km (11:30 / km) +280m 9:12 / km

EUOC Big Weekend SOSOL, Arthur's Seat, Blue Course (5.6 km, 280 m) in 64:23. Cold and windy, but with clear skies and occasional sunshine. Careless miss at 3, then a big (at least 4 minute) miss as 5 (Alice and Ian Maxwell both mispunched this control), before being caught 6 minutes by Alice on the way to 7. Caught Alice at 11 when she missed, but flagged on the final climb and jogged home as yesterday's race finally caught up with me. Good early season workout on a nice course planned by Emma.

Hill Race race 1:10:46 [5]

... Leg 3 of the Devil's Burdens Relay for CLYDE with Ty in 70:46 (official). Similar to last year: I was stronger on the climbs, Ty was a bit quicker on the only flat section, and we were perfectly matched on the eyeballs-out 4 km descent to the finish. 5 minutes quicker than last year, which is nice. A much better team performance too: 45/163 in 3:49:13 as compared to 83/151 in 4:17:11 last year. The team was very consistent: 56th on leg 1, 55th on leg 2, 59th on leg 3, and 77th (but would have been in the 40s without the delay handing over) on leg 4. Very enjoyable (and more fun than the rather good urban orienteering race going on in Edinburgh at the same time).

Steady CLYDE Terrain Run with a hard weekend coming up. Up and down most of Cochno Hill with Mirjam, Ty and Alice on a wet and misty evening with patches of snow and ice underfoot.
