Orienteering race 1:04:55 [5] 7.0 km (9:16 / km) +405m 7:12 / km

ECKO SOL 4, Glen Tant, Short Brown (7.0 km, 405 m) in 64:55. Nice new moorland area in excellent conditions. Slow start (start to 1) but then fairly brisk and error free with only one poor route choice (played it too safe on 10-11) and tiny wobbles at 4, 16 and 18, making pehaps 1:20 of errors in total. An excellent day, and definitely some of the most enjoyable orienteering I've done this year!

Orienteering race 41:47 [3] 4.6 km (9:05 / km) +110m 8:07 / km

ECKO SOUL, Dunstaffnage, M40+ (4.6 km, 110 m) in 41.47. Gentle jog (trying hard not to try hard) round an interesting mixture of forest, moorland and urban terrain under grey skies with light drizzle. One bad route choice (12-13) where the map didn't show how grotty the direct route was!

Note
(rest day)

Long day at work.

Terrain Run 57:39 [3]

Another gloriously sunny evening. Steady anti-clockwise loop of the 356 Trig with Emma and Alice retuning via the bunker and the main track in 57:39. Right knee playing up a bit, especially of the descent. Set off an automatic "security dalek" guarding the ongoing work on the pylons which rather unexpectedly caused a siren to go off and a recorded voice to inform me that the police had been called as I ran past it!

Hill Race race 44:38 [5] 7.0 km (6:23 / km) +250m 5:25 / km

Whangie Whiz Hill Race (7km, 250 m) on a gloriously sunny evening (sun cream required!) with very dry conditions underfoot (i.e. near perfect conditions). Steady effort overtaking several women on the second half of the climb and then racing with various men (some faster, some slower) for the rest of the race (a pleasant change to being steadily overtaken). Unofficial time 42:38, about 90 seconds quicker than last year (albeit in better conditions).

Terrain Run 30:00 [1]

Slow jog to and from the start.

Cycling 1:00:39 [4]

Knee still not 100%, so went for another evening cycle in the sunshine, this time through Milngavie, to Dobbies Roundabout, along the road to Strathblane, up to the Mugdock Visitors' Centre then back via the Khyber Pass and the main road. Brisk workout in ideal conditions.

Some good news but mostly bad news in the GBR selections announced tonight, some of which must have been very close calls indeed.

Cycling 52:08 [4]

Glorious sunny evening but right knee a bit sore after the weekend, so went for a cycle round the "usual" loop up to Mugdock Visitors' Center via the Khyber Pass and back via Milngavie in 52:08 instead of running.
