Orienteering race 2:47:05 [5] 16.5 km (10:08 / km) +470m 8:52 / km

Leg 7 for CLYDE at Jukola 2016, 16.5 km (470 m), in 2:47:05. Mass start of around 1,000 leg 7 runners at 9 am. No idea where I was on the mad dash through the green and muddy ditches on the long leg to number 1, but thereafter very solid with only one significant navigational error when I missed 23 and lost 10 places in the process. Intermediate positions: 779, 777, 782, 785, 782, 780, 790 (including number 23), 784, 784, 780, 790. Overall 906/1374 on leg, gaining 39 places. Not as tired as expected, and the time passed remarkably quickly. With other runners all the way, with packs at all the controls making fine navigation easier, but with runners getting in my way on the legs. Pleased with my navigation, but should I have run quicker?

Running with / encouraging / marshalling the juniors in the Garscube Junior/Senior "3 k" race round the Garscube campus. Probably about 2.5 k.

8 hour drive back to Glasgow through the night after Easyjet cancelled the flight back to Glasgow (but not until making us wait for several hours first).
