JWOC Tour Day 5, Leirgrav, H50 (3.7 km) in 37.26 (-2.30 errors). Solid, but lacking a bit of inspiration. Felt slow in the terrain with a few small mistakes in the circle. Slightly disappointing end to the week. Scores (based on time behind winner irrespective of distance): 182 (discounted), 847, 602, 696, 711 = 2916 points for a respectable 34th out of 107 overall.
JWOC Tour Day 4, Nyrjord, H50 (5.5 km) in 58.05 (-1.30 errors). Another good run on another fairly open and runnable area with no significant errors except for a small miss near the end. Brutally steep uphill finish!
Rest day, featuring rain, eye-wateringly expensive soup (130 NOK a bowl!) at the National Park Visitors' Centre, and the "heavy water" plant at Rjukan made famous by the "Heroes of Tellemark".
JWOC Tour Day 3, Juvstaulnuten, H50 (5.9 km) in 59.33 (-4.00 errors). Good run on a much more runnable and open area with large areas of marsh. Pleased to hit all of the tricky controls on the big slope. Pushing all the way to the finish. Superb orienteering experience.
JWOC Tour Day 2, Juvland, H50 (3.7 km) in 38.02 (-1.35 errors). Totally different to Day 1! Much more "continental" terrain with two long path/road legs on a wet and chilly day. Good hard run (my best of the week) 22nd out of 90 only 7.39 down on the winner (847 points). Thomas also had his best run of the week despite needing 11 stitches just above his right eye after tripping on an old wire fence and falling onto a rock.
