Orienteering race 1:09:05 [5] 8.7 km (7:56 / km) +175m 7:13 / km

ESOC SOSOL 6, Dalkeith (8.7 km, 175 m) in 69:05. Long slog on a bright but cold day. Wobble on 2-3, small misses at 8 and 19, silly error 27-28 (where I tried running towards and away from the control before finally deciding that towards was probably best!) and completely missed the tunnel from the last control to the finish! Tired and heavy-legged towards the end. Felt below par for the rest of the day.

Orienteering race 21:29 [5] 2.8 km (7:40 / km) +50m 7:03 / km

ESOC Sprint O, Riccarton, Prologue (2.8 km, 50 m) in 21:29. Good clean run on a chilly day.
2 PM

Orienteering race 25:07 [5] 3.0 km (8:22 / km) +40m 7:51 / km

ESOC Sprint O, Riccarton, Chase (3.0 km, 40 m) in 25:07. Completely unable to see the control circles overprinted on top of the grey buildings (my colour blindness probably made things worse, but lots of other people were also struggling with this), and so had to follow Robin (who started 31 seconds behind me) for the first third of the course! Dropped by Robin and overtaken by several others on the second half of the course, but only ended to losing one place overall (9th to 10th).

Two rather cautious laps of the Nottingham University campus on icy pavements ... so much for travelling south to avoid the snow and ice in Glasgow!

Strength and Conditioning 1:00:00 [5]

Garscube Strength and Conditioning session. 3 x circuits of 50 seconds on plus 10 seconds change over plus warm up and down. Felt like harder work than last week. 60 minutes.

Tuesday Jan 27, 2015 #

Interval Session intervals 44:00 [5]

Garscube interval session at Anniesland of a chilly evening. 7 x 1 km with 75 seconds recovery in 4:18, 4:20, 4:22, 4:26, 4:22, 4:29, 4:37. Struggled on the last one. Brief warm up and down. Session roughly 44 minutes.
