Lakes 5 2014, Day 1, Swindale South, M45L (8.4 km, 280 m) in 77:49. Driving wind, lashing rain and very occasional sunshine with lots and lots and lots of water underfoot made this a real battle against the elements. Easy navigation and I got round slowly but without any significant errors. Overtaken twice by Tim Griffin (at 6 and 10).
Cycling from the city centre to Hampden in the afternoon just after the Time Trial and back around midnight after my last volunteering shift. Getting athletes onto buses back to the village at the athletes' exit, so got to see all the athletes in the stadium that night, including Usain Bolt, David Weir, David Rudisha, etc. Seriously tired!
Back to Hampden this time as a spectator to watch the morning session of athletics. The shuttle buses from Buchanan Street Station worked very smoothly. Interesting session of heats and qualifiers, but I'm really looking forward to going back for a fantastic session of finals on Saturday night!

City centre to Hampden (flat!) and then on to Cathkin Braes (definitely up!) for the Commonwealth Games Mountain Biking. Impressive, close-up view of some serious racing over rough and tough terrain.
