Cycling 40:00 [3]

Broomhill to Ibrox and back via the Clyde Tunnel Cycle Tunnel for a 7 1/2 hour Commonwealth Games shift at the Rugby 7s.

9 AM

Road Race race 22:06 [5]

Springburn parkrun #12. My second visit to Springburn Park, but my first using the usual 2 1/2 lap course. Good steady effort - the gentle hill (three times) was easier than expected but the undulating "back straight" (two times) was a little bit harder than expected. Official time 22:06, with Ian Davidson just 9 seconds behind. Officially a PB by over a minute (but last week's alternative course was slightly long).

Road Run 15:00 [2]

Gentle warm up and down before and after the parkrun.

Cycling 1:40:00 [4]

Bearsden to Ibrox via the Clyde Tunnel Cycle Tunnel (slightly eerie and solitary experience once I'd got the control room to open the security gates for me) and back via the Squinty Bridge and Pacific Quay in preparation for getting to my Clydesider shift early tomorrow morning. Ibrox very busy with the crowds watching the Rugby Sevens.

Terrain Run 45:55 [4]

Far too hot to run during the day (the car thermometer said 30 degrees!) so didn't run until after 9 pm in the evening. Steady anti-clockwise loop of the Whangie with a pleasantly cool breeze.

Thursday Jul 24, 2014 #

Note
(rest day)

Watched some Commonwealth Games hockey at the new National Hockey Centre.

Terrain Run 56:00 [4]

Steady anti-clockwise loop of the 356 trig loop on a gloriously sunny Wednesday lunchtime. Slight breeze made it very pleasant, but a hat and some sunscreen were definitely necessary. Said a cheery "Good Afternoon" to an underdressed "courting" couple I unexpectedly came across near the end of the final descent.

Cycling 40:00 [3]

Cycling to and from Hampden Park from the city center for my first shift as a Commonwealth Games volunteer - six hours standing/sitting in the sunshine guiding athletes on and off shuttle busses.

Monday Jul 21, 2014 #

Note
(rest day)

Watched an unexpectedly good Commonwealth Games opening ceremony dress rehearsal in the evening.
