Orienteering race 1:25:51 [5] 8.6 km (9:59 / km) +180m 9:02 / km

SOL 4, Lossie Forest, Short Brown, 8.6 km (180m) in 85:51. Good clean and fast start through the technical open dune area not used at the 6 Days (controls 1-14). Began to flag a little on the long, dead running legs though the "easy" forest (15-23) with a small miss at 16. Very slow and tried (still snuffing with cold probably didn't help) through the technical wooded dunes (24-30). Others were making more mistakes (e.g. Ben S 81:53, Kenny M 93:33) but lack of speed in the second half meant that I didn't really capitalise on a pretty clean run on a super technical area. 9th/33 on course, but only 5 minutes quicker would have put me 4th just ahead of Ben S.

Terrain Run 52:00 [3]

Didn't feel up to the Kirkintillock 10 K, but the alternative was a great CLYDE terrain run with Dave, Mirjam and Ty (the latter making his debut) up to the 356 Trig and returning via the bunker of a gloriously sunning evening. Lots of spluttering, but really pleased to have been out on the hills. Then spent more than a hour trying to cut the ridiculously high grass in the back garden - looks like I seriously overdid the lawn feed a couple of weeks ago!

Sleeper back to Edinburgh with Jon X, Pat B and John E, then a much needed recovery day as the cold which started to appear on Saturday morning arrived in full force.
