Orienteering race 1:18:00 [5] 6.5 km (12:00 / km) +320m 9:38 / km

SROC Northern Championships (UKOL #9), Blake Holme and Gummer's How, 6.5 km (320 m) in 78:00 (-7:30 mistakes) for 10/36 on M45. Difficult to read the 1:10,000 map in the thick green 1-7. Lost contact and missed at 2, but most irritating mistake was a big overshoot at the first control in the nicest part of the forest (control 9) where I stupidly followed Claire Ward (who evidently wasn't running W21L) well past the control. A few small wobbles, but enjoyed the proper hard core orienteering in fully technical terrain and slightly damp conditions (cagoules compulsory but not required). Generally pleased, but irritated by silly miss at 9. Thomas 63:06, Dave 65:35, Graeme 71:40, Jon 74:25, Roger 78:39, Pete 101:21.

Orienteering race 50:54 [5] 4.7 km (10:50 / km) +250m 8:33 / km

LOC Middle Distance Race (UKOL #8), Summer House Knott, 4.7 km (250 m) in 50:54 (-3:30 mistakes) for 24/97 on course. Miss at 1 and then drifted off line at 2, but then pretty good - if a little bit slow - the rest of the way. Impressive amounts of blood from a tiny cut on my thumb.

Road Run 1:06:42 [4] 8.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Garscube Harriers Thursday evening debut. "8 mile progressive run". 2 mile warm up down to Anniesland, followed by 2 miles, 2 miles and 1 mile out along Great Western Road and back along the Canal building to 10 K pace for the last mile, then 1 mile warm down back to Garscube. Roughly 5 miles running in 40:01 and 3 miles warm up and down in 26:41, making a total of roughly 8 miles in 66.42. Good steady effort on a cool but pleasant evening.

Terrain Run 51:44 [3]

In Edinburgh all day, then back to Glasgow for a slow anti-clockwise loop of the Whangie in damp and blustery conditions with the light beginning to fade. Very slow, but it was good to get some exercise after a tiring day.

Day trip to Cardiff. Why couldn't the JK have been a week later or my conference a week earlier?
