Walking (speedygeese) 2:00:00 [3]
shoes: helios - black
Stockyard Spur with Imo! 47:10 to helipad cairn, 1:34:20 to T Junction, returned same way.
Managed to arrive at the start point of Corin dam with 4 minutes to spare. Shivered along with a few other frozen Geese, then we ducked into the toilets for some last minute reduction of weight because every tiny bit counts when the gradient is 30 - 35% in parts and because I'd had 2 cups of tea, and because number 2's for Imo (great stuff!). I was barely inside toilet block for a minute, yet when I came out all the Geese had flown, and this is such a speedy group of geese that we never saw or heard them again on way up. Didn't really matter because we were a good percentage slower paced and only went to T junction for about 13k total and a bucket load of climb - 500m climb in the first 2k, then some more climb to junction (maybe 700m climb in total?)
Foot niggle didn't even exist for 3/4 of it, then the faintest reminder, therefore I declare it better. Sacrum was unhappy for first hour at least, with unstable feeling and little sharp pain on every step, but later it settled down to v small dull ache in R glute so I could run quite well. Enjoyed running on the stunning soft track in such glorious country, felt great. Saw party of 4 red robins, so bright.
Legs were totally smashed by end for both of us, yet it didn't feel difficult to descend the steps at all; hurray!
We stopped a few times to eat and take in views, very cruisy. Much of the time was spent in food fantasy land - I should have eaten breakfast. Just before helipad on way down we encountered our first speedygeese. About 5 passed us. Nice to say hello. Chatted in carpark then drank our tea and coffee, ate the best chocolate and left.
