to Laura's 29th birthday where I did some good core work in the form of hula-hoop. Having completely failed to get Erica's hoop to work I was delighted to have no problem spinning these larger and heavier "adult" hoops. I could do the reverse direction too.
A sudden sharp pain under ribs the next day gave me a moment of concern until I remembered the likely cause. Went away in a minute or 2 and no other doms over next days. Yay!

Mt Tennent before the dawn although didn't go all the way to the top. Turned around somewhere after the pond. Would have been much better to delay it for another morning but when flan actually agreed to my suggestion I couldn't resist. So got up at 4.10 am... left about 4.45am. Called it early as I had too much of a cold and felt a bit ordinary after an hour. Also feeling the effects of pushing hard yesterday.

Absolutely loved running up in the dark, it feels like it's been way too long. Such a magic experience; the cool clear air, the gradual stirring of birds and animals, the way you feel like you're going faster when it's dark, the sure-footed goat feeling of running up hill with a decent torch, stopping along the way and turning off torches to observe the changing sky. We decided to aim for one Mt T a month yay (or a Gingera). We didn't see another soul until almost at bottom again.

Got to basin rock at 34:40, T junction at 56, turned somewhere near dam/pond at 1:10:00. Mostly walked down.

parked on brucie. mtb tracks at far end again. new favourite loop beginning with health run. Mtbers are all very polite when encountering a runner on the tracks which I am happy about. Bit warm but some cloud cover helped. I have a feeling I've topped up my vit D stores after the winter slump. Been a bit over sunned this week.

Jogged to top of ridge (H run) for about 10 mins. Then did a good set of drills with extra spring for 7 mins including walk breaks. After a rest I set off down Creek Run and continued at a slow run for until hitting a wall pretty hard about 30 minutes in. It was a no breakfast morning so not worried and tried to push on walk only a bit up some hills. Slightly jelly legs but felt ok and thought it would be good training for something or other. Toughness maybe. Felt fine cycling home and not hungry at home until later. Enjoying breakfast now though...

The ride home. Must have been out for total of 1 hour 40 minutes including stops to lock bike and apply sunscreen. No wonder I bonked. And then Flan says Yes to my dawn on Mt Tennent suggestion tomorrow, if only I'd done a short little jog, always happens like this but super excited to be doing a dawn mountain tomorrow anyway :)))

Running race (Mt Ainslie run up) 21:28 [3]
weight:60.9kg shoes: helios - black

24C and sunny so bit hot. Ran without stopping to start of steep FT (first 7mins) which I haven't managed for a while. Lots of power walking from there with patches of run as I gradually cooked myself. Kept gramps in sight for a long time which helped drag me up but he was minutes ahead by the end. Happy with pacing anyway. Nice run down with gramps afterwards.

Felt really good today, easy and flowing. Very happy to run over 50mins. Cycled to bruce ridge and along to park bike at the nicer end. Took a great route linking up the mtb tracks. Enjoyed a long gradual climb (without walking) up health run, belco switchbacks and creekrun link to top. Spent 3:30 doing some good drills which I've been neglecting lately but I feel sure that they made me feel great for rest of run (and keep going).
Enjoyed the pretty creek run then worked my way to bottom, turned around and came back to top of ridge via a slightly shorter way. Took fire trails around 2nd water tank and back to bike. The Noisy Friar Birds were out and singing today.

Rode home, made a quick salad and didn't have time for breakfast before leaving for Susan's picnic by the lake. What a lovely spring day and what delicious chocolate cake. Tasted one of the best guacomoles ever too.
