Running 1:28:40 [2]
shoes: purple inov8 trailrocs

Mt Tennent for dawn on top with flan. 1:28:40 from trip recorder to top might be a PW but we did stop a bit without pausing watch...). I didn't run all the way up, am guessing the run - walk ratio. I made one major mistake - I went without BREAKFAST! Never do this again! I should know better. No, a banana is not enough. It has to be PORRIDGE preferably made with extra stuff like apple and linseed added.

It was a very black clear night with high crescent moon and bright stars at the start (5:30am). There was frost on the grass and a quiet crackling sound (does frost make a sound?). My headtorch was all charged up so great visibility running up. We stopped occasionally to admire the sky and the smear of dim light gradually appearing on the horizon; first blue, then a bit yellow then orange, yet a long time until the sun actually sparkles above horizon. This happened when I was just below the top. A few trees here and there had leaves that reflected an intense orange light while the rest remained dull green; an amazing sight that I stared at in frank wonder. Then the moment of dawn is so sudden, a very bright orange light suddenly turned on, shining in my eyes.

We ran together chatting then V went ahead a little before the T junction. Saw both the black and the stripy little wallabies on my own and heard 3 lyrebirds in full show-off concert mode right near the track (the last 2 next to fire trail near top). We had the mountain to ourselves until cypress pines on way down - a few groups on the way up.

Legs and feet survived, if anything they feel slightly better. Had a bath when I got home which was pretty nice. Mt Tennent for dawn is pretty much the most rewarding thing I can do in Canberra, so lucky!

Note

I have a friend who has a dream to hike up Bimberi Peak. He has been wanting to for years but never quite found people to go with on the right weekend. So... we had a plan for tomorrow - weather is good! I am excited!

He just cancelled. I don't really mind but now have to find another adventure to replace it. Namadgi is tempting... or just some red hill stair reps as usual?

With Carmen on ridge. Overcast in a very pretty autumnal way. Big rain is coming. Outside of both feet (head of 5th metatarsal) is slightly sore still.

Running hills 10:52 [4]

3:36, 3:40, 3:36
A particularly gorgeous day for running with Imo. We did 3 hills from gate on bike path up single track to top of Oconnor Ridge (started from tall wattle) with me leading first, Imo leading second and a 'race' for the third (Imo won of course). We didn't feel like doing the 3rd, talked ourselves into it then felt marvelous afterwards. Good day to push a bit harder. My breath rate for the 3 ints: 4 steps/breath, 5 steps, 4 steps then 3+ for last part as we raced.

Parked at north end of dryandra to avoid professional dog walkers and had a very easy warm up and drills via the pond. Stopped to watch a big flock of Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos cavorting in low trees right by our track. i can't remember ever seeing them on Ridge before. After the 3 hills, felt so good running back to car for last 5 minutes. Great run and great workout, body is behaving better and better with only slightest niggle on outside of R foot (?head of 5th metatarsal, as in proximal end (is that head?))

Cycling 33:40 [2]

Cycling to yoga (15:40 on the good bike), then easy cycling home again

Strength Stability Suppleness (yoga class) 1:30:00 [3]

Got there early to do some warming up exercises - adds benefit to the rest of the class. The group Oms are a challenge as the rest of the class seems to use it as a Pitch Drop Experiment (a less famous version than the longest lab experiment in history)

Running 20:00 [2]

local headtorch run up and around southwell park ovals twice. Saw some runners who could have been bilbys. Wore my comfortable dragons. Felt a bit achy after the yoga - sacrum, glutes, feet and ankles.
