Running 40:00 [3]
shoes: purple inov8 trailrocs
Tidbinbilla - Fishing Gap -> Mt Domain (nearly). Ran and hiked alone; very alone as I'm pretty sure no-one even walked up to Fishing Gap the whole day. As the track got harder and harder to find I decided not to do the last steep climb to top of Domain. Would have attempted it in company but it feels a bit vulnerable being so deep in scrub by oneself.
Blue cloudless skies and warm in the valley but quite chilly on top of the range - thermal top and tights and beanie on way down.
Firetrail up to the Gap (in just under 40 minutes) is not too steep so I could run a lot of it. The bush is lush, green and thick but I admit that FT's are not my favourite. At the Gap I easily found the very promising start to the new track. It's delightful and runnable for a few minutes then kicks up steeply and goes straight up, no switchbacks but easy to follow, to top of range (in about 1:18:00). Then it runs out. I followed some Bushwalking club tapes up over peak 1402 and descended to saddle as sapling regrowth got thicker and thicker and tapes (which were a faded orange) got harder to find. When I noticed there was more than one "track" I decided to call it quits about half a k from top of Domain (this was about 15mins after reaching top of range).
Up for approx hour and a half, bit less than an hour down. Driving was 52 minutes for the 51k.
