Running (Mt Tennent) 1:17:00 [3]

I'll make 1:20:00 my time to beat as I turned around about 3 mins from the top (Flan had gone ahead). After many failed plans and cancellations Flan and I finally managed to do another Dawn on Mt Tennent run. It's still my favourite thing in spite of the resultant fatigue from getting up at 3:15am.

Picked up Flan, happy that the pouring rains had abated and drove to start at the road crossing to save a bit of time. The ascent was in cloud with mist blowing through the beam of the headlamp, making it hard to see the ground. It was beautiful and mysterious and not at all cold. Many small wallabies scampered out of the way but sadly no wombats.

I'm so much less fit than last time I did this, legs were struggling on the way up and they have a good case of DOMS today (saturday) in spite of a post run massage. I did manage to keep running the flatter parts which felt great and if I get back into regular running I may be able to improve my Mt T PB of 1:12:07. Some timings on way up: Basin Rock 32:00, Bushfold Junction 51:25, FT 1:06:05.

Had quite a quick jog down compared to usual in about 1:05, getting a bit hungry as I hadn't had any brekkie. Had some dates and almonds to keep me going but it's not porridge. Drove Flan into work and was home by 8:20am (wow!). Hit some very tired spots during the day and had an arvo nap.

A little commuting in evening (to Cockle st) on very sore legs. Probably good for them.
