Running 1:15:00 [2]

From home, to blackie, up to circum, a lap, back towards home. I didn't wear enough and was too cold which made it a bit miserable. Took a long time to warm up afterwards. But I got to see a good sunset and I really don't mind running in the dark.

Cycling 35:00 [2]

Bicycle errands, trying to keep pace up a bit to make up for appalling lack of training this week. Had a big performance (improvised comedy theatresports) on thursday night and an even bigger performance last night. It was my students' mid-winter concert which was an absolute feast. You could actually hear the audience gasp with amazement at a couple of points. Also spotted some parental tears while watching their children - happy emotional tears.

Treadlie excelled with his best concert yet, SwissMiss managed not to tear up as far as I could tell. He nearly blew at the finish line though. We have a rule at concerts: "No bowing, no dinner" to promote graciousness in spite of mixed feelings a performer sometimes has. Treadlie nailed both pieces of music then walked off the stage smiling. "You beauty!" I thought, how much fun it will be to announce that he has given up dinner. But the audience made a group sound and he was able to u-turn and cross the finish line correctly.

Picked up the music for Coro, still can't believe I passed the audition. I have a good kilo of music to learn in the next 3 weeks eeek!

Running 17:20 [2]

Short, wet run on bikepaths. Wasn't meant to be that short. Ran past a man climbing the back fence of a block of flats. It's a high fence so not usually used for entrances. I looped back to see him peering into the windows of a flat, looking much less like a resident by the minute. He must have been able to hear and see me in my super bright yellow jacket. I thought if I ran past one more time he'd know that I was watching. This time he was climbing a wall to peek into the upstairs flat. Definitely about to break in so I'm relieved that one more pass had him abandoning the plan and climbing back to my side of the fence. My side? Yikes! Did some excellent sprint training all the way home and phoned the police. Our street has lost 3 bikes including one very nice downhill MTB in the past week so I was stirred to community action, although obviously lacking in bravery.
