Running 1:02:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:53 / km) +205m 6:11 / km

A less dawdling run than usual with imo, although conversation was pretty constant, just more breathless. Less walking and a bit of a faster pace gave us the best strava stats yet; under 7min pace is a PB for our social runs so far :) We felt like real runners today.

Up Kiddie FT, down ST to underpass, through Frost Hollow to style, L along bike paths back to blackie reserve. Headed north on FT to near underpass, Weetangera/Smiths FT, up hill to saddle with some slightly desperate (but fitness inducing) surges on hills, back to substation. Rather spent by end and I can feel the run in my legs now. It was cold, foggy and still, and we saw no other runners. So happy we committed to another run this week.

Running hills (Mt Ainslie Run-Up) 20:34 [4] 2.2 km (9:21 / km) +220m 6:14 / km

Missed!
Pushed so hard that I had nothing left for the final sprint up the stairs. Quads turned to jelly coming down the stairs afterwards. In spite of that I was 9sec off the PB from 2001, 8 sec off the almost PB set in March. I hadn't had anything to eat since brekkie and was probably still a bit leg-fatigued from sunday's big effort.

It's really good to push and breathe this hard occasionally. I felt pretty awful at the finish for a few minutes, then great for the rest of the day. It was good to see Toni Brown and have Imo along for her first go - she beat my PB on her first try! What a natural runner, and she was looking athletic too. They were both in front of me and gradually drew out of sight. I did however eventually manage to overtake Red Tshirt. It took a long time and I got in front just before joining the concrete path. It was good to have someone to chase down (in slow motion).

It was crispy cold still air with some sun, some clouds. Good running weather. Bit cool in shorts and Tee, should have worn tights.

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2]

Got there early and did a running warm up. Jogged down with Imo afterwards, past Alan Craigie who was doing hill reps on that steepest bit of FT.

Cycling warm up/down 18:00 [1]

Rode to Mt ainslie. Slower than usual b/c I wasn't late.

Cycling 15:00 [2]

Recovery bike ride to move the legs before I SMASH my Mt Ainslie run-up PB tomorrow. Better cook up a big pot of potatoes too.
1 PM

Running intervals 2:00 [3] 0.4 km (5:00 / km)

Shoe shopping intervals 8 * 50m accelerating through each interval. Location: bitumen footpath outside the runners shop.

Ints were: NB Minimus in grey, black, half a size bigger, Inov8 flite, half a size bigger, pink altras (very nice but too wide), some tiny blue shoe on sale, NB Minimus size 10 in grey with different socks (Yes!).

Recoveries were: browsing sale rack, checking wallet, removing thermals, fondling the tights, trying on way-too-big shorts on sale, reading about sock technology, comparing prices, purchasing.

Very effective session that will probably lead to faster times as early as tomorrow. Got home and ate lots of potatoes.
