Running 1:28:40 [2]
shoes: purple inov8 trailrocs

Mt Tennent for dawn on top with flan. 1:28:40 from trip recorder to top might be a PW but we did stop a bit without pausing watch...). I didn't run all the way up, am guessing the run - walk ratio. I made one major mistake - I went without BREAKFAST! Never do this again! I should know better. No, a banana is not enough. It has to be PORRIDGE preferably made with extra stuff like apple and linseed added.

It was a very black clear night with high crescent moon and bright stars at the start (5:30am). There was frost on the grass and a quiet crackling sound (does frost make a sound?). My headtorch was all charged up so great visibility running up. We stopped occasionally to admire the sky and the smear of dim light gradually appearing on the horizon; first blue, then a bit yellow then orange, yet a long time until the sun actually sparkles above horizon. This happened when I was just below the top. A few trees here and there had leaves that reflected an intense orange light while the rest remained dull green; an amazing sight that I stared at in frank wonder. Then the moment of dawn is so sudden, a very bright orange light suddenly turned on, shining in my eyes.

We ran together chatting then V went ahead a little before the T junction. Saw both the black and the stripy little wallabies on my own and heard 3 lyrebirds in full show-off concert mode right near the track (the last 2 next to fire trail near top). We had the mountain to ourselves until cypress pines on way down - a few groups on the way up.

Legs and feet survived, if anything they feel slightly better. Had a bath when I got home which was pretty nice. Mt Tennent for dawn is pretty much the most rewarding thing I can do in Canberra, so lucky!
