Orienteering race (Oz Sprint Champs) 20:42 [5] 4.0 km (5:11 / km)
shoes: Helly Hansen Trailcutters

First starter. Started out fairly constantly, hesitated on the way into 1 to glance at the control on the wall to the left and to convince myself it wasnt mine. Had Brodie Nankervis slowly reeling me in until 10, where he eased past and away. Feeling tired and slowing into the spectator control, and messed up the 2nd one after that (20?) by about 25 secs. Did the complex area at the end quite slowly. Stopped 2m short of one control where I risked crossing a garden bed and headed right around and did it properly (10 secs) and warned the observers on the way out to note who crossed the garden beds. Apart from that smooth thru the last few. Just too fat and slow!

run 50:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)

Reasonably restrained run home, calves telling me not to go too fast or there would be consequences...

Orienteering race (Easter Day 3) 1:06:09 [4] *** 8.0 km (8:16 / km)
shoes: Helly Hansen Trailcutters

Day 3, as usual a bit sore and tired but not as bad as usual, the complete lack of sleep (1/2 hour) was the main issue. Calves were a bit stiff in the morning. Took it easy through the first couple, and emerged into the clear with Tooms only 30 secs ahead. I set about reeling him in and did so heading to 6, with Ben Corry reeling both of us in also. I lost them in the fallen rubbish through to 10, and Craig came past to 11, so did Ev and Grant and Bruce. After that the goal was to just get to the finish, ran with tRicky for a couple before he got away with a couple to go.
Happy overall with the 3 days, its not usual for me to survive so well, but I definitely need to get more of the good stuff (sleep, training) to do any better, whether that is possiblt in my situation right now is questionable.
