Strength Training (RDLs) 25:00 [3]
(sick)

So by this time of the school day I was realizing that I was really feeling terrible and that I actauly might be sick.
12 sets of 10x 50lb RDLs
10 mins on airbike
11 AM

Commute Biking (from school) 19:47 [3] 5.5 km (3:36 / km) +60m 3:25 / km
(sick)

So yeah I left school as soon as we were dismissed for lunch because I felt like crap. And thank goodness I did. I spent the rest of the day laying in bed, sleeping, and being bored out of my mind because everything hurt too much to do anything.

Orienteering race (Short Stumble - Patuxent) 1:17:14 [3] 8.91 km (8:40 / km) +162m 7:57 / km

This was incredibly fun. The fact that the park was so flat made it really nice to just run. A few times I even took a slightly longer route on a trail/road that I think paid off, since I was running and I didn't have to worry about navigating too much. Plus, with the map reading exercises I've been doing, running on a road/trail and mapping ha become super easy. I still need to work on doing it off trails, though.
It was super fun because I felt my training start to pay off. Firstly, I was actually able to run at a decent speed (the fact that I kept on seeing Addie out there was proof of that) and that I didn't necessarily burn out, even though I ran almost 9km. Only at the end of the last window I started to feel kind of tired, but I think that was partially because that's the first place there were some actual (bigger) hills.
I really enjoyed this. As usual I was worried about the mass start, but the fact that I had a different route choice for the first window than apparently almost everyone else (I went to B first instead of A) made it less stressful for me.
So navigation wise, I was really proud of myself for sticking to my routes. At the beginning when there was nobody else going my way, I stuck to my plan. When I noticed that in the 2nd window I accidentally started heading to Q instead of to S, I kept on going to Q because changing my route at that point would be a waste of time. Between 12 and 13, when I decided to run on the road and trail and saw Addie cut through the woods, I thought why didn't I cut through as well it would've been shorter, but I kept on running at the same speed and I stuck to my plan (I was running pretty fast, so I don't think I lost too much time).
However, I kept on making smaller mistakes. On several controls I got into the circle (or really close to the circle) and then I couldn't either 1. find the correct reentrant or 2. find where the control was on the feature. Also, the biggest mess up I had was when I was in the second window. So my plan was to go T, R, S, Q, ad then U. But because I saw Addie, I got a bit distracted and forgot what my plan was, so I just ran at any control I saw on the map I guess. I ended up going to T, then R, but then I ran to U, and then I decided to dash straight to Q. That's when, halfway to Q, I realized that I forgot about S. So after geting Q, I had to return back to S, and then go to 12. Luckily it wasn't terrible, but it had to have cost me maybe a minute.
There were also some route choices that could have been better (like the first window), but I don't think I lost too much extra time on those. Hopefully.

Note

Does learning to folklore and ballroom dance count as training? Cuz it really should.
It was incredibly fun, but man my calves were burning by the end of it (from being on my toes so much) and we were all sweating after those two hours.
