Running-Trail race 16:48 [5] 5.0 km (3:22 / km) +41m 3:14 / km
shoes: Saucony Kilkenny

State meet at LaVern. Finished 126th of 210, 5th on team between Isaac and Jack. Team was 9th, not what we were hoping for but decent given the circumstances (Ian hurt his shoulder by running into a fence along the course, John being plagued by a back injury, and Isaac running on a healing stress fracture, made worse by his thigh sleeves falling down 100m into the race.)

Quite a hilly but open course with few turns. This was nice because my race strategy involves passing people in the middle of the race, something that's impossible on a windy course with steep hills.

3:03 -12m
3:25 +10m
3:23 down then 500m long gradual up
3:29 bumps
3:25 more bumps then gradual up, decent finish passing a Bloomington North runner 5m from the finish.

After seeing the results of this meet, I was reminded of the fact that every point really does count. We tied with Avon, but won in the tiebreaker for 9th place. If I had not worked to catch up to the Bloomington runner, we would have been 10th. If one of our injured runners had given up just a little bit more, we would have been 10th. If Jack had realized he would not score and had lost to Avon's 6th runner, we also would have been 10th.
