Set off from Newport with a route north east through the Cotsworlds with the aim to just see how far we felt like going before getting on a train back to London.
The wind had dropped but it drizzled for most the day. Climbs were still steep but not as long, and the route was sensational with a far chunk of the riding on single country lanes. I dont think you can go wrong if you just pick a route not on the main roads. The only negative with this is that some of the hedges that line the roads can be a little high and it blocks the views....
Cranky Pete cracked pretty early today and we decided to head to Gloucester so he could get a train. We grabbed a coffee and worked out a new route down to Kemble as it had a train stop, and out of nowhere hit a 2mile climb that maxed out at over 20%, bloody killer.
Luckily the express train to Paddington stopped at Kemble.
Cracking weekend

Headed down to Newport Wales for the weekend to test the legs on some steeper longer climbs through the Brecon Beacons in Wales with Pete the creep and Bartman.
Cracking day of riding! One of the best days Ive experience. The route was picked trying to use as many smaller lanes linking two cat 2 climbs. Good old steet view was amazing for this. The morning was a bit sheltered from the wind but in the arvo after a pub meal we got smashed by the gale force winds. Pete managed to get a flat on one of the most exposed hills around. The hills in this area are bloody steep! Good effort by Cranky Pete and Bart.

Got an early mark from work so headed out for some laps of Regents park to stretch the calf, a bit sore after yesterdays cramps. It started raining straight away... but good to get this in.

Ride to Regents park for some hot laps, but while stopping at one of the lights i got a massive calf cramp with a group of guys sitting behind me waiting for me to move on. Rolled around 1 more lap before heading home. Food bonked by the time I got home, and as a sit here now my toes keep cramping...
