Drove from the edge of the Pyrenees to chambery

Saturday Jul 7, 2012 #

Note

After the race I drove back towards carcassonne through the Pyrenees. I took a route over the top of Col du Pailhéres the second highest col in the pyrenees, second to Tourmalet, at 2001m.
They usually climb up the side I rode down and it was spectacular. Perfect no much wider than one lane rd, that switched its way down into the valley. There was even old graffiti on the rd, notably ULLE, almost more famous than a banksy.
Will have to come back and ride it one day

Running race (Andorra Trail) 53:16 [5] 6.22 km (8:34 / km) +544m 5:57 / km
shoes: INOV8 X-Talon 190

After jogging around the mountains of Andorra the previous day I finally decided I may as well start the race and run to the first hut, ass was feeling alright, much better than a week ago.
The start was at about 2050m and we ran up over Port negre ~2500 then Portella Sanfons at 2600m and down to refugio comapedrosa, here I stopped and watched as andy and the others headed off over the highest mountain in Andorra, over 2900m Pic Comapedrosa. This section of the race was all above the tree line, and a few times I would step of the train because I was checking out the views.
10 AM

Running 17:28 [3]
shoes: INOV8 X-Talon 190

I waited at the hut for andy to complete the climb, snacking in the race food of chorizo, prosciutto, crackers and coke.
Then ran with him down to the bridge crossing before the trail splits. The drop in altitude meant that at the bottom we were now in beautiful pine forest, and much hotter.
