Running race (Coastal Classic) 2:42:27 [5] 29.53 km (5:30 / km) +777m 4:52 / km

Coastal Classic Race from Otford to Bundeena
Started just over 3 minutes behind the first group to start with 2 people starting every 5 seconds to spread out the field. I started with Andy and set a pretty good pace up the first climb pulling in quite a lot of races. On the downhill I got a little gap on Andy but could see him not too far off. Was getting pretty thirst coming into the first drink station at Garie beach, where the maccas cup that i had tucked in my pants was holding up well. Headed off down the beach and was battling to get a good pace in the sand (later andy said he was pulling me back along the sand sections).
The next section I was feeling pretty strong pulling in some more runners. At Wattamolla the cup was going strong and I had some watermellon and a mouth full of GU blackcurrent (terrible).
Started to struggle a bit from here, with Andy catching back up with about 6km to go. The last section once again was pretty terrible but i felt better than last year.
Last year i ran 2:52:59 and was 9th. This year just over 10mins quicker and I think i was 20th so the field is getting much stronger. I think the winner smashed Damon's time by 12 mins!
