Adventure Race (Vanuatu AR - Day 2) 12:04:55 [5] 40.0 km (18:07 / km)
shoes: Salomon XT Wings

The cross island trek started well...
All the teams had to head up into the mountains following a fire trail in the dark and then following a taped route across the island. All teams missed the taped route, which was poorly marked at the turnoff. Teams headed up and down looking for the turnoff. I decided that people could be here until sun rise and that if this was a normal rogaine we would just navigate to the first CP. No problem.. If we went too high we would hit a cliff line, and if we went too far right we would hit the marked trail. There however was no cliff line and the marked train would be almost impossible to see. We saw neither and hours later decided to head back to the road surrounding the island. We then came back across the original fire road, walked down and found the marked trail, and headed off 3 hours after any other team.
The trek was really cool with massive figs and with hardly any undergrowth.
Finished with a cool waterfall abseil and finished just as the pig on the spit was cooked.
Cool race
