Rogaine race (Geoquest) 2:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon xa comp 2

This was a team split leg. I only need to gain 2 controls with Kim.. Ran into the first two teams in a creek as they couldnt find the controls, so were equal first. followed a creek downstream but had no idea and eventually gave up.. Rob then had a go and finally cam back 3 hrs later! Apparently there were some unmarked tracks and poor creek mapping (bad even for a 1:25000 map) that didnt help in the dark. Used my space blanket that ive carried for years!

MTB race (Geoquest) 36:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:09 / km)

Back down to HQ...not much fun with no brakes! Sun was up now!

MTB race (Geoquest) 3:52:00 [4] 42.0 km (5:31 / km)

A long MTB leg which was quite fun. Finally was motivated after the nights drama! Passed a team to get into 6th.

Trek race (Geoquest) 3:05:00 [3] 9.0 km (20:33 / km)
shoes: Salomon xa comp 2

This was run around a group a big mountains, big climbs and steep decents. Snuck arround a team that was infront.

MTB race (Geoquest) 1:29:00 [4] 22.0 km (4:03 / km)

Ride off the mountains down to Nambucca river.

Kayaking race (Geoquest) 4:02:00 [4] 20.0 km (12:06 / km)
shoes: Salomon xa comp 2

Started this kayak on sundown. Fell asleep while kayaking a few times and experienced my first "Sleepmonsters", seeing things in the water and things on the banks.... weird!. this paddle had a 1.5km portage which hurt a bit!

Trek race (Geoquest) 2:17:00 [4] 11.0 km (12:27 / km)
slept:0.0 shoes: Salomon xa comp 2

More sleepmonsters on this beach trek to the finish. Had to climb a headland and get down a cliff on the other side... bit scary at this stage in the race... thought i saw a team coming from the bushes, but then realised it was just people carrying kayaks, and rob agreed.... only to walk a few more steps to discover it was actually a house with lights on! time for sleep i recon! Finished 5th... really happy i never felt too bad and look forward to next race!

Ocean Kayak race (Geoquest) 1:15:00 [4] 12.5 km (6:00 / km)

Paddle from Grassy nob beach to south west rocks., out of the water in 9th.

Trek race (Geoquest) 1:46:00 [4] 15.0 km (7:04 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-DS Trainer XI

Ran this section well. Didnt worry about other teams that passed us.

Tubing race (Geoquest) 39:00 [3] 1.5 km (26:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-DS Trainer XI

Tubing in a dirty river! then had to cross a fast flowing river, where alot of teams got swept away.

Kayaking race (Geoquest) 1:03:00 [4] 10.0 km (6:18 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-DS Trainer XI

Paddle along a river.. made up some time as teams tried to portage their boats but got stuck in mud.

Tubing race (Geoquest) 1:25:00 [4] 5.0 km (17:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-DS Trainer XI

Alot of people didnt like this leg but i thought it was ok... bloody cold though. Lost a bit of time trying to head out to a beach on the way back to HQ.

MTB race (Geoquest) 2:15:00 [5] 30.0 km (4:30 / km)

MTB rogaine section. No real problems with nav. some small over grown tracks. Was raining and had chain suck within about 500m of riding. The HID lights i were using rocked!

Rogaine race (Geoquest) 3:19:00 [4] 15.0 km (13:16 / km)
shoes: Salomon xa comp 2

Got confused early on due to poor maping of tracks/lack of mapping! still menaged fastest team on this leg.. used our miss a check point card.

MTB race (Geoquest) 4:28:00 [5] 24.0 km (11:10 / km)

This was a MTB leg to the bottom of Mt Yarrahapinni, then a 500m vertical bike carry through this rainforest.. hardest thing ive ever done. Cought another team on this climb putting us into 3rd. Broke a spoke, breaks didnt work, map board fell off, and light died!

Swimming race 2:30 [3]

The night before the start of Geoquest (48hr Adventure Race). To gain a "miss a check point" card, one team member had to swim out into the river (8pm and bloody cold!!) and exchange a chocolate bar for a card. Always being one to take an oportunity to get naked, i stripped and swam out and got the card... If anyone see a photo of this then i have to enforce how cold it was ;)
