Orienteering race 4:00:00 [5] 30.0 km (8:00 / km) +1070m 6:47 / km
spiked:125/126c shoes: Nike Air Pegasus +25

The first annual World Championships of Extra Long Orienteering, raced by Andy, Glenn and myself.
A course set by Andy, involving the joining of 5 maps Balls Head, Tunks Park, West Chatswood, Blackman Park and Lane Cove River. The course has 126 controls and was raced 10 controls at a time, with the winner of each race given a point.
It was bloody hot and humid and we were all saturated in sweat by the end of the first race.
We all struggled at different times but the 2L of slurpy, and cheese burger at 2/3rds of the way was refreshing and much needed.
Andy and i continued onto the last 2 maps, where the pace was still hot and the race came down to the last race.

Final results:
Prong 6
Andy 4
Glenn 3

Running race (Bogong to Hotham) 8:45:00 [4] 64.0 km (8:12 / km) +3500m 6:27 / km
shoes: Nike Air Pegasus +25

Tough day out.
Started at 6.15 group with andy and damon. The race starts at Mountain creek car park at about 600m alt, and is basically flatish for 2km, then travels up 'The Staircase' to the top of Mt Bogong, vics highest mountain at 1986m. You then drop down abpt 900m alt. into 'Big River', climb up Mount Nelse at 1860 alt. and along to the midpoint at Langford Gap. The run is reasonably flatish for until about the 50Km mark where you drop off the Bogong High Plains descending 400m into Cobungra river, and finishes with one last climb up to Mt Hotham at about 1861m.
I was feeling good up to Bogong summit and lead the group to the top in 1'26'39. Damon took off down the slopes and i kept with him to Big River. Up the next climb i felt i was pushing a little too hard so let him slip away. I came into Langford Gap in 3rd in about 4'28. The next section seemed to take ages until the drop into Cobungra. I ran the down hill well, but stopped for a minute to get a stone out of my shoe but there was nothing there. At the bottom i still was feeling alright, but after not too long into the next climb i was battling. I was feeling pretty crook in the stomach by now and even though the rest of the day had been quite cool, it was hot up this climb. From here i was pretty spent and slowly walked and jogged to the finish.
Still pretty happy with how i went. Very very tough run,

My watch died about the same time that i did, so the route doesnt go to the finish.
