British Relay champs. Running first leg on Men's Short, with Phil Newton and Nick Martin (various others not there / not running for various reasons). All good except one control I missed and was playing catch-up, and got a stick straight through sole of shoe (new shoes today!) but fortunately not too far through sole of foot! Finished second place with good chase after Robert Gardner and just in front of Tim Beale.

British Champs. Felt like a bit of an effort at first - doing too much slow steady training, and not enough speed and in terrain. Then got a branch in my eye on the way to #3 and tore a contact lens so had to take it out. Then made some mistakes along the rock slope. Things improved a bit before long slog uphill leg, then started to enjoy it on the tops. But justifiably beaten into 2nd place by Nick Barrable by 2:30 - too slow and too many mistakes (he made a 4 mins mistake, so clearly running faster).
