orienteering 1:40:00 [3] *** 8.0 km (12:30 / km)
spiked:14/15c shoes: Brooks Cascadia 7

Control pickup at Chill AR, foot-o section. Smooth nav except not seeing the obvious ditch next to a trail. Early on, knife fell out of pack while running, and I had to retrace my steps to carefully search the ground (same thing happed at Brake the Habit last year during control pickup). Luckily, found it on the trail through a field on my first try, though delayed me by 10 minutes (could have been an hour). It would have been very hard to cut through the zip ties at every control with no knife.

orienteering 1:35:00 [3] 8.0 km (11:53 / km)
spiked:15/15c shoes: Brooks Cascadia 7

Control pickup at Chill AR, bike and foot-o windows section. Different map scale. Really had the nav dialed in and spiked every one. I was very efficient with the knife, folding away bags and putting them into my pack. I was racing sunset to get as many controls picked up as possible, and got 1 more than my goal. CP 1 through 6 and first 3 windows. Was really tired at the end.

Event: QOC Patapsco

orienteering race 1:38:00 [3] *** 9.2 km (10:39 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3

Patapsco meet, in heavy rain for the first half. Hindered by visibility/map reading with glasses and rain, and slippery conditions (mud). Even at reduced speed and careful compass work, felt unsure of my location several times, but minimal amount of time lost. Wouldn't have felt comfortable pushing the pace much more than ran, given the conditions. Only one easily avoidable mistake, 2nd to last control I read the map features wrong and circled back around and had to climb back up.

orienteering 35:00 [2] ** 1.8 mi (19:27 / mi)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3

Control pickup at Patapsco, light rain, fairly easy nav at walking pace.
