Run 26:17 [1] 4.61 km (5:42 / km) +5m 5:40 / km

With Emily :)

2 easy laps of the meadows, was nice. And Emily's knee felt okay!
Saw a dead squirrel (twice) which was fun too

Orienteering 46:38 [3] 7.13 km (6:32 / km) +165m 5:52 / km
shoes: Icebugs

Scottish Relay Championships - Drumlanrig Castle

Richard came back in 1st because he's a massive legend, so I was thinking maybe I'd scrape into a pack, but tragically Craig was rather off the pace so I was on my own for it all.
Still quite faffy in the circles, but that was my own fault for not checking compass and not reading the map properly.
Nice enough day out in the woods though

Bonus trivia: the owner of Drumlanrig Castle also owns another 280000 acres, making him the largest private landowner in Scotland, wow :o

Orienteering 1:55:14 [3] 14.8 km (7:47 / km) +175m 7:21 / km

Scottish Championships - Dalbeattie Forest

Clearly my intense training regime in the last 2 weeks has paid off because I felt pretty decent physically.
Not the greatest technical run of all time, quite a lot of scrappyness and bananas but all things considered, fairly good stuff.

Also since Will and Ben don't live here I think I can safely say I'm the 3rd best orienteer in Scotland, and I also beat both Purkises to boot #winning

Run 24:04 [2] 4.97 km (4:51 / km) +50m 4:37 / km

I meant to get out a bit earlier/further/faster, but plans changed and I found myself in the company of Ravelston Dykes once again.

Thought I was going to get bitten by a poodle, but he was actually just sneezing

Tuesday May 21, 2019 #

Note

Not quite at that level of keen to go training in the rain (yet)

Monday May 20, 2019 #

8 PM

Run 24:13 [2] 4.97 km (4:52 / km) +50m 4:38 / km

Impromptu but enjoyable trip to Teviot for a burger and pint post work meant I started a little later than planned, but it was still not too bad.

Shaved a full 90 seconds off last week, I'll be sub 15 in no time

Sunday May 19, 2019 #

Note
(rest day)

Called it a rest day, driving home from the Lakes and really quite tired from a couple late nights

Saturday May 18, 2019 #

10 AM

Walk 6:00:00 [0] 16.0 km (22:30 / km) +1600m 15:00 / km

Starting from the National Trust car park at Wasdale, up Scafell Pike via a scrambly bit, then up Great Gable and back to the car park.

With a bunch of boys who've been too busy suckling the corporate teat to train, so pace was chilled out, but it was good craic nonetheless

Friday May 17, 2019 #

Note

Drove down to the Lakes straight after work

Thursday May 16, 2019 #

6 PM

Run 35:47 [2] 6.91 km (5:11 / km) +120m 4:46 / km

Real test of will getting out the door, but managed to get myself outside and headed up to the tower on Corstorphine Hill. A bit DOMSy, but nothing too serious, and I was glad to have done it.

Nice and sunny, and saw a zebra :)

Strength and Conditioning 1:00:00 [0]

Gym with Emily - celebrating world orienteering day by not doing any O, as is traditional

A bit of mobilisation and limber 11, then down to the vaults for:

3x5 Deadlift (40, 60 warm-up, 70, 80, 90kg)
3x5 Back Squat (20, 50 warm-up, 70, 80, 80kg)

Tuesday May 14, 2019 #

7 PM

Run 25:59 [2] 4.97 km (5:14 / km) +50m 4:59 / km

A massively slow shuffle around the 5km circuit, feeling very lethargic.
Plenty of extra protein from all the flies in my mouth

Cycling 3:03:48 [1] 69.42 km (22.7 kph) +770m

Easy-breezy avec Stevie

Went out through Eskbank to Crichton castle and then home via Temple and Gladhouse. A very nice day for it, and got to take it super chill because the big boy was bonking

His bib shorts were also wearing out at the back, and with the sun shining on him they went really quite transparent and I got to stare at his hairy arse crack. Nice.
