Scottish Relay Champs - Binning Woods
3rd (2nd Scottish team)

Ran 3rd leg in ESOC team with Rona and Bex. Started out a fair way down on the teams in front. Set off hard along the track to 1, then just kept pushing the pace. Caught Kirsten at 1 (didn't see her though), Alison at 3, Jenny and Lucy at 4, then caught sight of Alice at 8 (who was in the lead at this stage). Then lost my head a bit getting too excited to be in the lead, took a terrible line out of 8. Then chose the path I was planning to off the circle, halfway down started thinking it was wrong then when Alice crossed the path I followed her left to the other gaffle (even though I'd seen my control to the right and assumed it couldn't be mine). Jenny and Lucy came past whilst I was correcting and never caught back up to them again.

Annoying as it'd been such a good race up till that point and was really feeling in a position to fight for the win if it came down to that. But still stoked on an awesome result for our team :)

Too busy baking all morning, sitting in the car at the event as it was pouring with rain, then spending 1.5hours collecting controls. At least I got a decent arm workout from walking 2km back to the arena with so many controls!

1st
Tried a new tactic of starting at a steady pace, then pushing on in the last 10 controls. Not really sure if it worked or not. Made a few errors in the first half I think from being complacent and not attacking the course as I normally would. But then I also felt very strong right through to the finish, which makes a change (especially on a longer than normal sprint).
Only mistake was not seeing the trap to 5 which was annoying, but wasn't too much extra running to get back onto the fastest route.
