Track session at Meadowbank yayy :) Did a test session to get an idea what sort of pace I can run the 5km race next week.

4x 1200m @ 19:00, 18:30, 18:00 5km pace, then whatever I had left for the last one. [2mins rest]

Kept starting a bit too fast being about 3 secs under, then dropping it on the last lap to be 2 secs over. But just so happy to be doing some intervals on the track :D
Jonny paced me for the last 1.5 which helped a lot.

T.B.T. class - thought this might be a bit like AB&T but ended up being a load of zumba and only 1 ab track. Still had an overly enthusiastic male instructor at least!
Abs are quite sore after 3 days in a row.

Sprint course - Oxgangs
Jonny started 80secs behind to simulate Maja chasing me down in a sprint relay ;) Caught sight of him going to 12, then panicked and breathing got out of control going up the hill for the final 3 controls. He got past going to the last control.
Mostly going okay, but need to practice how I go about long legs as I didn't do very well on these. First one I couldn't look at the map long enough to see the whole leg and ended up going a longer route. Then second one I'd planned ahead what I thought was a good route, only to discover there were walls in the way once I reached #6 so had to stand still and find another route.

Course 1 - Grangemouth
On a new part of the map I hadn't been on before. Felt quite rushed and behind on the navigation for a lot of it. Got caught out by some fences and artificial barriers.

Course 2 - Grangemouth
Took 10mins rest before doing this one. Course was a lot easier than the first one and as a result I felt a lot more in control with the navigation. Surprised my legs could keep going this fast after the first course.

JK Relay - Pippingford Park
8th

Ran 1st leg in a team with Rona and Bex. Super fast open area running with Julie, Fiona, Jo and Charlie. Ran well up to the spectator control, then started stuggling with my breathing so was glad for the flat track route to 11. Then had to walk up to 12 and the group got away a bit. Almost caught back up to Jo at 14 but misread the code and stood still for a bit wondering which other ditch my control could be in, only to work out it was this control after all. Ended up finishing in 4th, 30secs down on the lead, but very pleased to be so close to the front.
Rona ran really well to put us into 3rd place, but unfortunately Bex rolled her ankle at the 4th control and had to limp round the rest of the course.

An okay run. Spent a lot of time navigating well to the circle, then scanning in circles trying to find the control hidden in a ditch. Lost a fair bit of time to 7 running too far left to another control then really struggling to run up the hills to 17 and 21. Foot didn't enjoy the open moorland very much.

2nd (+5sec to Tess)

Pretty decent run, very pleased with the result. Biggest mistake was on 7 where I hadn't looked ahead, started to run to the right but then decided to run left (+15sec). Otherwise very pleased with the run, tried to start slower than normal so I could manage to push hard right till the end.

Grangemouth Sprint from the Sprint Scotland weekend.
Running much better than yesterday. A few hesitations at the end trying to read descriptions on the map to see which side of the fence the control was on. Had to stop at the last control as the gate to the school was shut so add about 20secs to the time.

Plan was to start slower and finish strongly. Felt more like start slowly, then get slower. Couple of bad route choices and just not really planning ahead well enough. About 1.5mins behind Tessa which was a lot more than I'd hoped.

This didn't go as well as I'd hoped. Feeling rubbish physically and just struggling to read the map the whole time. Made a giant mess of #5 on the 3rd interval and was just getting slower and slower running so gave it up. Jogged a few of the 4th interval just so I didn't go home on such a bad note.

Not sure why I'm still so exhausted running...I've barely done anything since Sunday.

Double Dukes Middle - South Achray
Really enjoyed this, felt rubbish physically but was navigating really well which makes a nice change. Able to determine where the controls would be before I reached them and reading ahead well. Only real mistakes were to 12 when I was unsure where I was and stopped at the track to confirm. And should have gone straight to 17 but I thought we had to cross at the bridge.
3rd...2mins down on Tessa and 25secs on Jess so very pleased with that.
